As opposed to being paved with bad intentions up front?

TOS can change at their whim. Even if the TOS started out decent it would change as soon as they were established. Severing threads once the user base is entrenched would be much more difficult than not allowing federation from the start.

Wastelands 3; that's a fuck no.

Bonus: depends on if it comes with super powers. If yes, then no. If no, then fuck no.

Bonus bonus: probably not, but I'd think about it for hours every night.

Good points, but I do think the overall trend continues to be a concern

Agreed on all of the above, including buying premium just because it is good.

UI also has good customization options to fit whatever you reading habits or requirements are (font type, size, color, page turning, etc)

Unfortunately the mute button has ceased to exist much of the time

No, but therapy and medication should still be universally accessible.

I'm not trying to create a strawman, but think it's worth clarifying that mental health resources aren't the problem either.

How many of our favorite indie games are massive file sizes with draconian DRM?

Not really a primary point of your post, but you might consider that recent history, and history in general, provide many examples where sexism, racism, and transphobia do not remotely depend on anonymity.

At least in the corporate sphere there is a large overlap between shitty people and those that don't value privacy.

Dealing with an enormous corporation with an extensive track record of exploiting similar scenarios and acting on bad faith...

Yeah, it's pretty rational to believe this time will also be reflective of their general modus operandi.

You've mounted an emphatic defense of Facebook based almost exclusively on the fact people in this thread don't know exactly the technical details of what fuckery they'll be up to this time. I'm left wondering if you have any understanding of people, history, or... context as a concept.

You have provided a good sounding board for others to illustrate just what the risks involved are. So, thank you for that.

This is a community dedicated to what is... mildly irritating.

Unfortunately bots and bad actors will follow anywhere people lead or interact.

In this case, kbin shares this particular problem directly with the rest of ActivityPub related platforms.
