Everyone needs to calm the fuck down. This isn't going to end well for anyone if we have WW3.
22 ish hours and I'll never do it again. Went from Kenora, Ontario to Ottawa, Ontario before I stopped for a hotel.
The one and only time I was put under I said "you know what you're doing, eh?" And he just put me out. I didn't mean to say that, I was just nervous. I did see a nurse laugh though so that's nice.
If you think about it, for a torrent, it can be posted as soon as someone has it for others to download. Usenet it will need to be uploaded to servers and replicated through the network before it can be downloaded.
Also, what's the race for? Watch it a couple minutes/hours/days late, who cares? I usually wake up early and watch a show or two before work.
+1 for nzbgeek.
I also use nzbplanet but they seem to have the same options as geek.
Nzb.su and DrunkenSlug are my "backup" but only because they don't have a lifetime subscription.
In the Usenet subReddit wiki you can find an awesome list of providers and their backbone. Again, I'm cheap so I went with the cheapest one I could find.. it's rare but because I'm not using "the best" I'll need to use torrents to get anything I can't grab from Usenet.
To me, (late 20s/early 30s) Christmas has never been about religion. Sure I got gifts Christmas morning from Santa but in my house "god" wasn't a thing. It was "Santa". Christmas is it's own thing... It's bringing the family together, doing nice things or giving gifts, and spoiling the shit out of the kids.
Anyway, I'm not religious, and to my knowledge no religion aligns with my believes. However, a HUGE thing for me is 'live and let live'. basically the same as what you're saying. As long as you're not harming anyone, life your best life.
You can tell me "happy Hanukkah" or any other greeting in any other language and as long as it's used as a greeting, why do I care? Shit, I'll probably even ask about it if I'm ignorant. "Oh, it's Hanukkah? Tell me more, what do you do? How do you celebrate?"
I'm trying to think of a way to make it obvious that there's another 'trusted' cert being served by a man in the middle. If I sign and trust my own, then no one else would have one from that chain.
However, the problem is still there. If someone MITM me, they can serve a Let's Encrypt cert and I'd trust it. If I don't trust any but my own cert then I can't really browse the web.
It almost makes me want to self sign my important services and import it on all my devices, though, not trusting the rest would make browsing the internet quite annoying.
I wonder how we can protect against something like this.
I'm buying until I can sell everything and retire. That or its worth $0. Even then I'll try and buy more.
This is kind of my point. I don't feel there's a happy middle right now and unless you go tinfoil hat information is going to get out.
My threat model is basically "do my best to be as private as possible". But there is limits. I can spend $100 cash on gas or I can spend $100 on my credit card and get 2% back. Obviously I'm going to use my credit card. I still email people who use Gmail, People who have the facebook, instagram, X, etc on their phone has me as a contact, likely with my full name, email address, physical mailing address.
So why do I bother keeping my contacts in a selfhosted NextCloud? Why do I avoid the Google Maps app, or anything google when the wife uses all this stuff and I'm with her 90% of the time? I'm starting to think they have my information already anyway so why not welcome google into my life? I have to keep talking myself into the fact that self hosting is worth the extra work I'm causing myself.
Clearly you already know the difference /s
I have no idea, I just use and remember the one I linked above.
