Okay but how about compensation for all those people he’s fucked over by dismantling federal programs? I want this guy to be standing by a freeway on-ramp wearing a barrel and begging in vain for spare change, before dejectedly walking up said on-ramp to lie down in front of an oncoming cement truck.

Spot-on re: 1. When I saw that I thought, “why fucking bother with these people?” Don’t Coachella/Burning Man/SXSW demographics comprise primarily techbros and other guillotine fodder nowadays?
It’s by design though, isn’t it? Are there even any crypto green flags? Why are any of these ventures treated as anything other than rug-pull scams?
I’d once heard that it wasn’t even about West Virginia, the state, but rather west Virginia, the region. Dunno about the veracity of that statement, but
A Time to Kill
In practice, the whole point is to draw it out, to maximize fear and suffering, it’s not a bug. I’m surprised they actually allowed the firing squad to go forward.
Man, I’m not convinced that this would change much. Nearly twenty years ago, I’d listened to something about the death penalty, in which the sister of a murder victim was interviewed; she was told that there was incontrovertible evidence that the person on death row for her sister’s murder was in fact the wrong guy. She replied, “I don’t care, someone has to pay for my sister’s death.” Because we have the death penalty in place explicitly for the purpose of exacting revenge rather than serving justice, there will always be someone who relishes the opportunity to carry out the execution, just out of blind rage.
UPS has always been hit or miss at best in my experience, but of the three, I’ll concede that it’s the least garbage. The other two have delivered packages to the wrong house—not as in like, “next door” wrong house, but as in “some house miles away” wrong house—or they sometimes just flat out don’t deliver a package and return it to the sender. If they do deliver a package, it’s rarely on time.
As for USPS, nowadays, my wife has tracked packages to see that they are brought to our local mail sorting facility, but then for some bizarre, inexplicable reason, they’re sent off elsewhere, even to another state, before being delivered here days later than the estimated delivery date. I have no idea what the hell is happening, but it’s insane and insanely stupid. And I know who is to blame, at least with this service anyway.
Wasn’t he just an enlisted PR stooge?
They’re all shit too. Fat lot of good privatization would do. USPS was Cool and Good until DeJoy was dropped in to throw wrenches into the cogs.
Hanlon’s razor has been really tricky for the last decade; on one hand, yeah, he’s a cruel, malignant tinpot hell-bent on wrecking everything for personal gain but on the other hand, we’ve all heard the guy talk, right?
As much as the votes on reproductive rights and cannabis gave me hope, the legislature’s responses on both left me cold, as some of these scumbags are not above ignoring the will of the electorate, and with the way the winds are blowing now, I’d not put it past them to move forward now to do just that.
I think there’s potential of the issue passing—as with the aforementioned reproductive rights and cannabis measures—but I fully expect a ballot issue on abolishing QI to meet a whole bunch of rigging and disenfranchisement fuckery, plus I fear that people may be intimidated or otherwise discouraged from voting altogether.
