Careful calling those regimes authoritarian. Hexbears like to attack this point by assigning a slightly different definition to authoritarian and then either (a) claim that all governments are "authoritarian" or (b) blame liberals for using this word to demonize socialist states. I once saw someone cite https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/Authoritarianism to "prove" that those states are not authoritarian.

Pro Russia and pro China.

Do you think that is acceptable behavior?

I did not say that it was Hexbear downvoting us.

Though this is not a description of what hexbear is, you probably will be interested in my post where I stated why I wanted to defederate from hexbear: https://lemm.ee/post/5751850 (shameless self-plug, I know)

Sorry, but the experience I've had with you guys is that most hexbears are hostile to people who hold different opinions than theirs. I wanted to link to a post where I have detailed the hexbears who are too hostile, but I was worried that that would come off as being condescending. if you want to see it, you should check out my post history.

Yeah, the Chinese government is totally very democratic and is receptive to the criticism of its citizens! They never censor words and topics they don't like on their social media platforms!

Cool, a thread asking our opinion on Hexbear. Here's a post I wrote a few days ago on Hexbears: https://lemm.ee/post/5751850.

An excerpt from my post for your convenience:

An album to outline a few comments I have received within the past 3 days:
(content warning: toxic comments, genocide denial)

and

TL;DR: Hexbears deny the genocide against Uyghurs in China. They laugh at and dismiss the idea that China is a dictatorship. Having those opinions is fine, but they personally insult the people with whom they don't agree using annoying emojis and terms like troll, shit, shithead, Nazi apologist, colonial comprador, freak, rabid imperialist westerners, condescending dickbag, disingenuous idiot, unimaginative impotent weasel, losers, etc. They say that other people's claims are rooted in dishonest bullshit. One of them even said, "nothing you say has any value, and you deserve no regard." I would say about 33% of them are overly pugnacious and feed on the misery of others. Federating with them brings us more trouble than benefits. The sheer number of other instances that chose to block them is more than enough to prove this.

Edit: I witnessed someone being banned on one of the communities on hexbear.net because of alleged racist remarks. The offending comment was simply stating why comparing Xi and Winnie the Pooh isn't racist:

Gee I just looked up that @[email protected], and apparently he has 9 posts on [email protected], with the highest scoring post having a score of -14. (Yes, negative fourteen.) There are only 10 posts in total on that community. Wow.

Yes, I know it's a vote, but what's so fundamentally different between the big Lemmy instances that you want to block some and not the others? Are the userbases of those big instances really that different from one another?
