Why would they shut off your power? You'd be paying for the extra power being delivered to you, right? Why would they care what you did with it?

And regardless, that's a far cry from it being illegal.

No-one reputable is going to report on this, but you did some weird searches if you only found Murdoch sources for it. The primary sources on this are, in chronological order:

  1. The Daily Fail, which is owned by Harmsworth and Rothermere, not Murdoch.
  2. The IDF releasing the videos directly (abundant re-sharing meant I failed to find where the IDF originally posted them).

Indeed, just along classist rather than racist lines.

All of them, which is why windshields are so expensive. That's not basic-bitch glass in your windshield.

No-one cares if you consent to being drawn. The problem here isn't the consent of the depicted person, it's that the viewer is being misled. That's why the moral quandary goes away entirely if the AI porn is clearly labeled as such.

But that's not the question I was asked. Answering the question I was asked doesn't make my answer a strawman.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

of or characteristic of the middle class, typically with reference to its perceived materialistic values or conventional attitudes.

"a rich, bored, bourgeois family"

You dislike the middle class?

Every system has flaws, to be sure - e.g. in Saudi Arabia, which is as anticapitalist as possible due to the government owning everything, all wealth is concentrated in the monarch - and capitalism is no exception. My answer to you has to be specific to certain types of goods, because for other types, capitalism will absolutely fail in the manner you describe and needs government regulation not to.

In this context, I will use "fail" to mean the failure you asked about, only 1 wealthy person.

Example where capitalism will generally not fail, and, in fact, has never failed in recorded history: restaurants. If our mysterious wealthy person attempts to own every restaurant simultaneously, someone else will open a rival restaurant and the plan will fail (and even if somehow no one could open a rival anywhere, people could choose to eat at home). No one in any country has ever managed to own every restaurant at once.

Example where capitalism will absolutely fail over time: oil. It is trivial, given enough time, for one person to eventually own all access to oil - Rockefeller is a great example of someone working hard at this, successfully.

Since OP used American terminology, probably they're claiming America, which would mean you need to ask which state, as water bills and such are a state law thing.

So far as I know there is no state with a law like this, but odds are very good OP never learned the nuances of the situation and something else illegal was going on, like delinquency or fraud on the water bill, or if they were in drought conditions and going over their ration due to supplying a bonus household.

In fact, my first guess is fraud, if this "hose" was connected before the meter, meaning the family was drawing more water than they were paying for.
