The difference is just that you log on using two different sites. They can access the same federated content. Just read the rules of both instances and see if you prefer one or the other.
priapus
Oatmilk is easily the best alternative imo. It can be frothed pretty well too.
I use startpage, I usually prefer it's results to ddg
That's good, I prefer that rather than development efforts being split between similar forks.
Nice to see the fediverse growing no matter where it is. As long as we can all communicate it doesn't matter what instance or software we're on.
Sidenote: is kbin a fork of lemmy? Or a different codebase entirely?
I use an Iris, a split ortholinear board. I also used a pack of differently sized rubber feet to tent the board a small amount. I love using it, I wish I could have one for every system I use.
I'm even keeping my eye on the Framework 16 inch laptop, since the customizable keyboard module will allow for a split board!
Jellyfin if you don't want to pay at all
Devs are currently working on a solution to handle this better. Mastodon already does it correctly.
Jellyfin with Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr and some torrent client makes a great automated media server. Just don't forget a VPN!
They're functionally very similar but are two seperately developed pieces of software. The lemmy devs are tankies and many would prefer to completely avoid using something from them. I don't believe there's anything to worry about, as the devs can't control individual instances.
