It may be true that it is difficult to accurately calculate the studio's profits however that does not change the fact that comparing worldwide revenue to individual costs provides no meaningful conclusions without knowing the rest of the costs. I agree that the writers and actors are being treated unfairly but the pie chart is obviously flawed.

One time I mentioned to my boss how I think humanity is doomed to destroy life on Earth because we never learn from our mistakes until it's too late.

My boss said that she is optimistic that we'll get climate change under control because of her young daughter's generation. I immediately backpedaled and agreed that we'll probably figure it out and technology will save us, but I was just lying to both of us feel better.

Of course we need to keep trying to solve these climate issues, but a lot of people are in denial about how bad things already are and underestimate the kind of societal shifts that need to happen right now because of the cognitive dissidence many of us hold, even scientists.

I agree, after owning Garmin watches I wouldn't want an apple watch.

In this thread: people who don't know the difference between revenue and profit.

I'm not trying to discredit the protests, they are completely valid, but this chart is meaningless for comparisons. The profits can be calculated and would be much more meaningful even if the numbers aren't perfect.

Just to clarify, this is the last annular solar eclipse until 2039 but there will be a total solar eclipse April 8, 2024 which I won't want to miss.

If only the politicians in the dominant parties had any incentive to make elections fair for all parties. As it stands, the dominant parties have too many systems in place to give themselves advantages.

Rank choice voting seems like an obvious upgrade to our current voting system but is nowhere to be found other than a couple states.

Yup, I considered the pixel watch for my android phone but Garmin has an advantage over it in every category while having no subscription. I would have considered an apple watch if it were compatible with android.

I think the pixel watch is doomed to fail unless they can separate from the Fitbit model and continue to improve the hardware and software.

It's not brainwashing when the voting system is specifically set up to give an advantage to the dominant parties and to suppress every minority party. There are valid reasons to be skeptical that a 3rd party could ever win without a reformed voting system.
