To be honest the comparison with Trump is bit harsh.

Because of how fucked up are American politics all the populists and right wing parties are compared to him.

In fact he has closer ties to democrats in USA than to republicans. But that doesn't mean that he isn't populist, political chameleon and sometimes in his retorics gets bit to the extreme to catch most possible votes.

I wasn't expecting that, only the paint. When you look at the picture with the fork, you can get the idea of how gunked up was the lower bearing. It is only wiped with damp rug and you can still see some mud and deeper scratches on it.

Yes, it was too short and routed bit improperly (too sharp bends and routed from wrong side) so it was rubbing the frame.

So it damaged the paint job (which I don't mind that much)...

... and wore hole in the headset bearing cups

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago (5 children)

Yeah, but worse problem was improperly sized cable housings, scratched frame and fork around headset and chewed through bearings cups of headset.

To be honest after visiting in winter some places (Spain, Portugal and southern France) are bit no go for me in summer. Too hot for me, I talked to some guy in Valencia and he just doesn't understand why so much people are visiting in August.

Yes it was the plan but at the end of June not on the beginning ;-)

But I will probably go for another month July/August. After I deal with the bike, I was bit surprised by some things the wear on some parts that I didn't expected, water and mud got to headset bearings...

It looks beautiful, my bike isn't right now in ridable condition so I won't be touring for another month or so (life happened so I decided to do maintenance in meantime).

If you look at it from the political side that this is the basic idea of liberal democracy.

Everyone votes in their best interest and especially in proportional representation you get some compromise of the interests.

Right now at least in politics people act less in their own interest but more of what they emotionally feel like their interest.

"Does it matter if I bring it back tomorrow?"

That's also classic answer to this question at daycare.

Sorry dangling from the outside of my bike panniers...

I don't know if they still make the pins but TLDR news made them.

It's not my bike, but yeah I am surprised too that it can hold it. I had to help her readjust it few times when it fall down.

We switched bikes for a bit few days ago and hers bike rides like a tank.

First of all sorry I broke my phone and my backup phone can't resize pictures so I can't directly load them here.

So if some of you follow my mastodon account you know that I got to Brussels, damn 2 months not posting here and where I got.

In France I met El and she showed me a bit around the coast, we were riding together for a week there. Each of us wanted to see something bit different so we split in Nantes and I promised that I will join her in CZ to show her around. So that's what's happening now I am in train riding through Germany (not yet) and have spare time pretty much all night (I don't expect that I will get much sleep). If you have any questions about my journey don't hesitate to ask.

So I am on big tour. And I should finally post some pics here even though most of them are on mastodon. If you want to check it: https://f.cz/@plactagonic I try to post pretty regular updates from my tour there.

First week I rode from Madrid to Valencia, I had planned to take Camino del Cid but I naively expected that it will be signed. So I quickly get on my own route and had a blast with some hilly sections.

This is Albarracín, nice medival village with castle.

In Valencia I stayed for 2 days to get some rest and at least look around the city center. But it is a pain sometimes to get in and out of cities here, from Madrid I had to take a train and here it was on sometimes missing cycle path. You just see all the faces of the country when you are bikepacking.

When I was leaving Valencia I met Sejdeborns (they have a YT channel) on their tour from Sweden to Morocco. They were on tandem bike so they took path along the coast, let me tell you don't take the path it is ugly I took only one pick when it was just missing. Go inland!

From there it was pretty much on Via Verde routes that are made from old railways so I have lots of pics of tunnels.

And through olive orchards so it became quite repetitive. I decided in Alicante that because of high headwind forecasted I should go inland. Yeah even inland there was headwind... 3 days of it. But I grinded through this inconvenience and now I am in Seville and next week I should be in Portugal where I will take the Atlantic coast route.

So thats what is going on right now on my tour, it is just a sneak peek, as I write in the beginning I try to post dayli on mastodon. I can tag it that it appears in this community but from my experience it just doesn't look right (the formatting).

Everything was covered with the "frost" more like a ice sheet.

It was fine nothing broken but I was bit scared when I saw it.

So Friday is the d-day for me.

I will tour for half a year, starting in Madrid and don't have a plan. Only thing is that I have to be back home in June.

This month photo for this regular discussion thread is from my summer trip, I visited few craft brewerys and tasted local beers.

As usual share whatever brewing related - questions, recipes, successes, bad batches...

I will be away for some time (~6 months) but should be reachable. I will travel through Europe (Spain, France, Portugal, Germany,...) when I post about this in relevant community I will link it here. Keep it chill here so I don't have to worry on road.

My last few brews turned out amazing and I am glad that I will be away and they will have time to age. Otherwise I would have drink them in few months, someone told me that ciders are best after 1-2 years of aging so finally it may get the chance to survive that long.

Edit: If you want to ask me something about my plans I posted about it on [email protected]

Today I and my dad opened his Christmas beer with rosemary. It is great, lighter for special beer and with notes of rosemary.

This photo is from few weeks ago when I connected with few guys for homemade cider tasting. Mine ciders will be for tomorrow, and all are great.

Cautionary children story, the text is just rhymed description of the pictures.

I don't know exactly when and where it was published, maybe it is from 1950 book with same name.

I don't know what will be there, for now I know only 2 of the movies there. It should get 2 new movies per week, restored in the highest possible quality.
