here is a less cropped version of the same mother and child photo i just posted-- the tree branch they're using was hanging out over the road --

from what i've seen, sloths often "hang around" near roads or human structures but maybe there are just a lot of sloths and the easy "low hanging" fruit are the ones we tend to notice & photograph...

We traveled from east to west from Bocos del Toro all the way to Darien, & every single Red Lored Amazon was going two by two except this one who sat looking somewhat stunned on a utility wire... I still wonder if there is a sad breakup story in there somewhere...
