This is something that annoys me a lot to be honest. Obviously, there are racist, colonialist vegans. It is a structural problem of western societies, and vegans aren't unaffected by that. Bringing it up and talking about these issues is important, but especially from non-vegans, it is often insinuated that these problems are somehow particular to vegans.

It is a huge distortion of the narrative. It is not the vegans asking indigenous people to stop eating meat, it is white people saying "ohh what about the indigenous" and use legitimate and important indigenous issues as an excuse to continue to consume animals and animal products.

This is what I keep seeing in leftist anti-vegan arguments. You take any of the social issues (racism, ableism, sexism, whatever) and use them to legitimize veganism as a movement. And this is rarely done because of sincere concern of these issues, it is nothing but a shell to try to make their opinions appear ethical. It feels hollow.

Beyond that, the intersection of carnism and colonialism is striking. The animals we eat, the rainforests that are burned down for animal feed, the environment we destroy through animal agriculture - that is an extension of colonialism. And now when Anti-colonialists are for some reason way more outspoken about veganism than they are about carnism, then they are pretty inconsistent in their own anti-colonial beliefs.

Ich ehrlichgesagt auch nicht. Was mir früher mal gefallen hat waren einige Beiträge bei zB Parteitagen, aber allgeimein ist die Heute-Show auch ziemlich albern

naja der Algogithmus pusht eben das, was aufregt, was durch Empörung für Engagement sorgt, wovon die Plattformen finanziell profitieren. Deswegen sind solche Meinungen und Ansichten eben so salonfähig geworden. Weil sie auf einmal durch Profitinteresse eine völlig überproportionierte Aufmerksamkeit bekommen haben.

Und darum finde ich diesen selbstregulierenden Mechanismus vom Fediverse so interessant. Es ist ja nicht nur dir Abwesenheit von Algorithmen, sondern auch ein Demokratisierung von Moderation.

absolut! Die Krux war dann eben, dass sie damit berühmt geworden sind und dadurch der Zauber fiel :D

Ich glaube die große Tragödie der letzten 10 Jahee ist, dass wir (oder besser gesagt profitorientierte soziale Medien) es zugelassen haben, dass Echkommern extrem groß geworden sind (Brexit, Trump, AfD, Antivaxx etc) Deswegen bin ich auch so vom Fediverse überzeugt. Diese Spaces werden dann eben nicht "zensiert" sondern einfach abgeschottet.

Dann sage ich in Zukunft Sojafleisch ohne Leerzeichen 🙃

Spaß beiseite, ich kann deinen Punkt schon irgendwie nachvollziehen, würde aber in dem Fall nicht zu semantisch sein.

naja es geht ja nicht darum, das mir was nicht gefällt. In dem Fall ist es eben Geschichtsrevisionismus und Holocaustrelativierung. Und da gibt es eben eine Grenze, wo man sich (als Instanz) distanzieren muss. Ich will jetzt nicht genau festlegen, wo diese Grenze sein soll, aber es geht dann eben nicht mehr einfach nur um Geschmack.

naja genau deswegen bin ich ja hier auf Lemmy, weil es keine Zentrale Stelle gibt, die entscheidet, welche Inhalte in Ordnung sind und welche nicht. So funktioniert es ja - Instanzen, auf denen Unfug verbreitet wird, werden so nach und nach isoliert.

Naja meine Frage ist, wo man da die Grenze zieht. Mir ist schon klar das miese Moderation einer Community auf einer anderen Instanz noch keine Grund für deföderation ist. Ich mich ja auch nicht darauf bezogen sondern auf die Instanz insgesamt. Wenn also (Aus z.B. Feddits Sicht) eine andere, größere Instanz (zB Lemmy.ml) völlig über die Stränge schlägt, will ich wissen, wie man da vorgeht.
