Most importantly, Discord pays the arbitrator.

I do use XMPP, but most programs that are available for it that also support OMEMO really suck, other than Conversations for mobile devices.

just pre-emptively block threads.net or whatever other domain they use

email is unusable without bowing to either google or microsoft

xmpp is far more niche than ever before thanks to the big players

http is highly grandfathered in ++ big tech is still working on the extinguish part, ever wonder why most websites are 30mb+ javascript programs? this is one of the reasons

There are two kinds of programming languages. The languages that people bitch about, and the languages nobody uses.

I am the nogrammer. I do not program. I prompt chatgpt to write my code for me. This takes care of my programming needs.

13 being anywhere but at the bottom of the list is meant to start a fight.

I've been mostly shooting them in the ass with whatever strong ordinance I can get my hands on.

Long live Super Earth!

Welcome new friends (lemmy.comfysnug.space)

I figured you guys should probably know what you're signing up for before getting too far.

I'm a hobbyist and new to running my own services. This server is running on a smol vultr instance that also hosts my pleroma and thelounge instances, so I'm not looking to accept too many new members; especially because I'm too broke to upgrade for the time being.

I expect to use slightly more strict rules here than I do for my pleroma instance in terms of moderation, but honestly I hope that such things won't be needed at all.

When I logged in today, I noticed that I had 3 pending registrations on my instance. I haven't really come up with any rules, any moderation policy....really anything.

I could use some advice. I want to be as permissive as possible within reason.

Thank you in advance.

EDIT: Edited title for clarity. I have a functional idea of how the tools themselves work.

Playing Visual Novels on Linux (lemmy.comfysnug.space)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

What steps, if any, do you guys take on the linux distribution of your choice to play visual novels?

I, personally, set the following in my .bashrc

alias vn='env WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine start '

so I can just type vn gameExecutable.exe and usually just have the game work.

For the games I've had for a while, I have .desktop entries in my $XDG_DATA_HOME/applications directory with more specific commands as needed.

If you guys have any other tricks up your sleeves, please feel free to share them here.

I originally read this fanfic completely blind; I knew neither RWBY fanon or canon. This fic started during the show's first season and had to invent all kinds of stuff because of it, and canon is now forever disappointing to me.

This is a million word, quasi-completed gamer fic, with a sequel coming who-knows-when.

This fic really sucked me in every time I've read it....and I've re-read it at least 4 times at this point.

I played through the prologue yesterday, and am considering playing through the rest over the next few days. I am familiar with FSN through F/GO and fanfiction, so the overall plot is kind of spoiled for me, but I've already seen details that I didn't expect.

I've been told that I should go for the main route first, then the UBW route, then the Heaven's Feel route.
