I had that exact conversation at work a few days ago. Someone was insisting that Spaniards are Latino, so I asked them if Spain is in Latin America or Europe. That was the key to them eventually figuring it out.

That’s an exercise in futility. If Lemmy takes off like Mastodon/Pleroma/Misskey/etc then you would spend your time trying to create accounts on hundreds of Lemmys, some of which will be private or invite only meaning you can’t. Plus, anyone on Mastodon etc. can comment on Lemmy posts. It’s not a task you can complete.

check out a Firefox extension called SponsorBlock. It's updated by users but is pretty current and can be set to skip past self promotion and in video advertising.

I'm sure there's a way to get around it, and if there isn't, then I just won't be using YouTube anymore. I survived before it existed. I'm getting tired of these companies' bullshit.
