I got banned from another instance's politics site for saying 'death to America' (not Americans).

Would I get banned for saying that here?

RFK Jr. : our board of vaccine specialmints has found HIV does not exist but is caused by hummus sexual Reese's monkeys. This new vaccine is also a vaxxine and because it has all those X's it is science-ifically proven bad no good.

Banned.

I don't think the world cup will be happening the way it normally would. If at all.

Just a hunch.

That's pretty much it.

The thicker the wire the higher/the more strands, the more bandwidth/electrical signal/information can be passed through it.

The coax gets the electrical signals (radio waves) from the antenna to the receiver.

In the USA it's been used (very locally) before, but the system has been in place for well over a decade.

The change in OTA was going from analog (NTSC) to digital (ATSC) signals. They operate on a different frequency range and offer higher bandwidth.

So, rabbit ears still work on for digital OTA TV on a TV with a digital receiver (any TV made since 2010 basically).

There are more specialized designs for different use cases.

In a pinch, I have used a hobby pin. An actual bobby pin. And it could pick up digital signals.

An antenna is an antenna. Everything is just radiowaves until it is received. The processing is done on the TV. But, the shape, size and material do affect how much is received or reflected or missed.

It's all ratios as far as frequency reception. The materials affect the electrical conductivity and signal strength. So, you can't make a wooden antenna, but any conducting metal would work. Some better than others. But copper is still the best aside from gold.

This is a good not really beginner article

I feel bad for her and her family.

Do you feel bad for the tens of thousands of Palestinian children killed by Israel?

At least the nuke will be quick.

Hopefully.

The earth will recover eventually.

As long as humanity doesn't.

After my grandfather passed, my grandmother decided to move to an apartment and so wanted to downsize. She asked the family to take whatever they wanted.

I went for the old and the odd. Some books are over 200 years old.

This one is maybe 100 and odd.

Found this while trying to figure out if, like 19 in cribbage, there is an impossible score in NFL rules football.

It shows all possible score combinations and which have happened - or not.

Technically, a team can score any number (til a team can have a score of 1). But, games cannot have certain scores. A 2-2 game is possible, but has never happened. 1-(1 to 5) is impossible. But 6-1 is.

*I edited because i got the 'how to score 1 point' wrong

That Hail Mary - Washington pulls it off! Wash 18-15 Chi

Aaron Rogers in shambles.

As a Lion's fan the hail Mary has been a topic of shame and hatred. That one, as whoever was doing the post game interview said, "nothing but god"

Lions are number 1 in the NFC as of today. (Is this real life?)

Sorry for the meandering post but today has been fun for football and Lions fans.

How does a tree (or any plant, really), know to evolve to produce a delicious fruit or a poison berry, a seed inside an impenetrable shell, or invent a type of flying machine, in order to reproduce? (Each of these examples exists in my backyard)

How do they receive feedback about their evolutionary experiments? How do they know it worked/failed. [10]

Loyalty should never demand reward. Loyalty itself is the reward. Else it's just prostitution by another name. (This thought inspired by golf)

Jerboa was the first client i tried. I've tried several others. Jerboa is my lemmy app.

The only thing that bothers me is after an update (this happens using both izzy and fdroid repos) upon relaunch i get "network error". It looks like i'm still logged in but my username is gone from the sidebar. If i try to log in i get json errors popping up in red text into the ui. Not a dialogue window, but within the background graphics.

I have to manually log out, close app, and login again.

This issue has been persistent across a number of updates since i started using the app.

I use a vpn/dns/firewall but have the app excluded/bypassed, except the dns (dnscrypt/doh/tls fallback.) Dns allows everything it should. ?

Android 13, may security updates.

Images show dns from store refresh to relaunch after update. Will pull logcat to see if it shows anything.

Just wanted to say thanks to the host of this instance.

The mini essay was a great idea. I definitely believe it will keep out at least some level of the riff and the raff. As much as people may dislike the idea of a gatekeeper, I believe it will make and keep the community much more fun, friendly, and useful.

I feel much more at ease on this service than on Reddit. I don't feel like I'm arguing with bots and trolls. Or dealing with bad actors and agitators. I'm discussing things. Reading the actual articles. And not doom scrolling. The nature of this service seems more organic.

Again. Thank you for your time and service to this (hopefully) growing community.

Just caught this episode on PBS. They harvest local plants. What most would consider weeds.

I've had dandelion a few times before, wild mint around here is great, grapes (and grape leaves!) are everywhere.

Are there any wild plants in the area you've had? Any we should know about?
