You can compare the trip to the circumnavigation attempts in the age of discovery, you may never see your home again, and die of dehydration in the middle of endless ocean.

But you can still breathe freely in the middle of the ocean. Space is more akin to sittting in a submarine, where to surface you need to travel for several months.

And honestly, while it would be cool, there is little point of sending humans to Mars.

People really underestimate how unique and cool our planet is with all that's going on.

Now, sending robots, and bringing some stuff back for analysis... Why not? Way cheaper too.

In Poland we do learn about the Swedish Deluge, but I think these days people mostly think of swedes in terms of meatballs and furniture.

They did have their callback to Viking times, that's for sure.

Nothing happend so nobody is to blame for anything. IF something happened, then yes, the person would be held accountable, perhaps not too harshly, but still.

Same situation: long haul driver doesn't get a second driver for a 14h run. Management shrugs, he drives for 12, falls asleep and kills someone. He is responsible, but he perhaps was also coerced, and the responsibility is on a company as well.

Not everything is clear cut, as much as we'd like.

That controller should have walked off and notified media no flights should be handled by Newark until they get their shit together.

This type of heroics can kill people.

I lived in a similiar belief about my country politics, and now I know there's no easier thing than to indoctrinate children.

I think you figured it out. It's not about immigrants, it's about undesirables.
And those can be political or social - look up the first targets of German or USSR occupation in 1939 Poland, or who Khmer Rouge killed.
The goal is to keep the docile, undeducated masses, and everyone that "stirs the pot" gets erased.

I had two fitbit trackers before getting Sense, and honestly, I keep it on life support, buying replacement 3rd party straps and charging cables.

When it inevitably dies, I'd move on. I never found a use for Google assistant, it can't even set my google maps navigation properly, can't set a reminder.

The only thing it ever did of value to me is 5 minutes of asking it for a joke.

Idk what's with plasma 6.3 but every since I updated I keep getting whole plasma crashes and krunner hanging. Nothing a couple of commands wont fix quicky (yakuake is just a shortcut away), but I can't send bug reports fast enough.
I have high hopes with every patch, and so far no luck.

Just don't talk to anyone about it, ok?

Talk about what?
