Lemmy wird von Privatleuten betrieben die ihre Server für uns Nutzer zur Verfügung stellen, jeder dieser Server hat einen eigenen Namen.

Doppelte Communitys gibt es auch auf anderen Social Media Seiten z.b. r/damnthatsinterresting und r/nextfuckinglevel oder deine Stadt für die es dutzente Facebookgruppen gibt.

Außerdem sind wir Lemmy/Feddit Teil vom noch größeren Fediverse
