Yeah that would be my guess, too. Poor design choices making the user experience very frustrating.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. It's not a technical error message, but a media availability message.

Tubi MX - content not available

  • Contenido no disponible = Content not available
  • Recuérdame - se te notificará por correo electrónico cuando esto esté dispnible - "Remind me: you'll be notified by email when this is available".

Lots of other movies on Tubi play just fine in my browser (Zen, mod of Firefox). But 90% of the movies featured on the home page are "Content not available".

Viewing above in Lemmy (Alexandrite), still no sound, although a small plus symbol appears when I hover over "orion".

Per Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tubi#Global_availability

  • US
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Mexico
  • Ecuador
  • El Salvador
  • Guatemala
  • Costa Rica
  • Panama
  • UK

I remember watching Death Race 2000 and some others on Tubi here in MX before it supposedly launched here, so I guess they weren't geoblocking back then. Unfortunately since the official launch, geoblocked to Tubi México only, with all films dubbed into Spanish and a different selection of available media compared to other countries.

I just remembered that there's now more overlap? interchange? between Tubi and Fawesome (both part of Fox), and the Fawesome website has Skyscraper in English and uncut, and doesn't geoblock me.

PS I've added the links for the movie on Tubi and Fawesome to the OP.

I was pausing frequently to do my "live log", so I guess that throws off my sense of the pace. But it seemed to move along at a fair old clip. For a straight-to-video flick, I'd rate the action pretty good, and the dialogue and performances as "so bad it's good".

Apparently so.

This was 1978, back in the days when many people in the UK would rent appliances!

Maybe nominate it for #Monsterdon and show it to dozens/hundreds of people at once. (Live cast on https://miru.miyaku.media/ )

Looking here, it doesn't seem to have been shown yet.

Thanks. Step 1 seems to make sense to me, but...(excuse me if this seems a silly question) this means I need a sound loudness measuring tool in order to use my phone as a sound loudness measuring tool? At least to do the calibration?

EDIT: Doh, re-reading, I see you already addressed that, thanks.

Been loving this track for over three decades but this is the first time I've ever seen the video.

Monsterdon is a weekly event on the fediverse, hosted by @Taweret@timeloop.cafe, where people watch a monster movie together by posting to the #monsterdon Hashtag.

More info

And this Sunday (Western Hemisphere, e.g. 8PM CT) (or Monday 1am UTC), the movie will be Forbidden Planet(1956)

poster for Forbidden Planet

By coincidence, I only recently watched it for the first time

Where to watch the film

I think you can go along with the live blogging via Lemmy if posts include the hashtag #monsterdon, but probably better to use Mastodon.

Pulp released Common People

So I thought I'd post the Shatner version and found this video.
