flooppoolf mentioned you can get a second opinion, and I'd like validate that idea.

The diagnosis involved me and my mom answering questions about the presence of ADHD symptoms now and in my early childhood (5-12 yo).

So. My thinking is that you weren't tested for ADHD, you were given a survey to assess symptoms. Symptoms are important to recognize, but they don't always paint a complete picture of what's really going on.

For my diagnosis, I had to take a barrage of tests that took 3 hours to complete. The testing session was comprised of several timed tests on reflexes, short term memory retention, attention span, logic, vocabulary, math, and an IQ test. The last three might have been part of the IQ test, now that I think about it. This was a couple of years ago so I know I'm forgetting a lot of details, but it was intense. The report I got later with the diagnosis was huge and contained a ton of data and confirmed yes, I have ADHD. So yeah, ADHD (I have the inattentive, not the hyperactive type) is quantifiable.

For what it's worth, when I was a child I also didn't have the typical symptoms of ADHD. It is possible to have ADHD and exhibit no outward symptoms when you're a kid, it presents differently in people for a variety of reasons, I was told. It only became obvious when I was an adult. That's just my experience, anyway.

On the topic of young people unable to buy a home, Whoopi said to her co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin:

"You got to go out and get a job...I know you're young, but here's what it is. You work, and you can afford a house. And you can go and get one."

I also hated it....fuckin' hated it! I watched the first three episodes when they aired and gave up. I binged it a couple of years later, and I'm glad I gave it another chance. What got me was the fallout from Hugh's fate in season 1, omfg it was just heartbreaking watching Paul come to grips and try to move on. And Ash, even though he was responsible, got my empathy eventually because of his struggles with all that overwhelming crazy PTSD and repressed memories. Yeah, really glad I gave it another chance.

I get the criticism about production, plot, and dialogue decisions. I mean, I agree on quite a few of them. But a good chunk of the detractors are on the hate bandwagon because they just can't stand women/minorities getting representation, and those dumbfucks need to GTFO. It's Trek, for fuck's sake. Yeah, Discovery is different, but I still dig the show.

Thank you, the Niemoller quote tends to get overused a lot, but it's vital that people understand it. The world described in the quote isn't theoretical, it actually happened. It's based on his experiences, because he was silent.

No one ever knows how you feel until you speak up.

I agree wholeheartedly. I suppose I'm just getting more and more tired of fascism as I get older, but people need to speak out more when they see injustice. Don't let fuckin Nazis off the hook, call them out on their bullshit. You don't have to be polite, you're dealing with people who want to and are actively trying to exterminate you. Tell them to fuck off! Others will join.

Yeah, it is really graphic. Not for the squeamish.

Yesterday one of our community members was being harassed by an antisemitic asshole (elsewhere on Lemmy, not here). The dickwad's post was promptly nuked by the mods, but not before I got a brief chance to tell them to fuck off. That interaction inspired this meme.

If you see someone being harassed, speak up! Don't let them talk to your friends like that, and don't let your local community turn into a Nazi bar! Stand together

Ahahahahahaha Today I Learned Anton Yelchin (RIP) was in a punk band. The screenshot is from Green Room, where his fictional band covers Nazi Punks Fuck Off in front of a crowd of white power skinheads. Movie also stars Patrick Stewart as the head Nazi. I didn't know Anton was in an actual punk band IRL LOL

I think you should spend more time using AI programming tools. That would let you see how primitive they really are in their current state and learn how to leverage them for yourself.

I agree, sosodev. I think it would be wise to at least be aware of modern A.I.'s current capabilities and inadequacies, because honestly, you gotta know what you're dealing with.

If you ignore and avoid A.I. outright, every new iteration will come as a complete surprise, leaving you demoralized and feeling like shit. More importantly, there will be less time for you to adapt because you've been ignoring it when you could've been observing and planning. A.I. currently does not have that advantage, OP. You do.
