They can sit through sermons every Sunday for 50 years about loving your neighbors and taking care of the poor, and then gleefully cheer on a homeless camp being violently dismantled. They know they're the empire, they just understand that the optics are better, and they get more emotional satisfaction by pretending they're the rebellion.

Then just post the photo with the spikes. The doctored photo is manipulating people into coming up with incorrect conclusions.
