Starfield faked me out for a bit when I took the character creation perk that gave my character living parents that I could go visit and would show up from time to time. They were funny and adorably charming, and I thought it was an inspired touch. Little did I know that was the absolute best part of that game...

Look, I'm not going to say that Gavin isn't generally a dipshit (he is) or that what he's doing now means that we should unequivocally support him (we shouldn't), but like... at least he's resisting. At least he's not rolling over and conceding to Trump's every demand like much of the Dem establishment. I think our anger is better focused elsewhere right now than at a prominent politician who is very publicly and very directly resisting Trump's abuses of power. I'd much rather Newsom be doing this when he could be issuing statements that the protesters should stand down and disperse.

As far as the efficacy of it, no, he probably won't be arrested, but I don't think that really matters. The point is to loudly call attention to the callous evil of what Trump is doing, take the moral high ground on the situation, and call his bluff. Daring Trump to arrest him makes headlines, calling attention to what's happening, and potentially influencing public support. If Trump doesn't arrest him, he looks weak and shows that he has no real justification, and in the event he does arrest Newsom, that's gonna open up a huge can of worms he's almost certainly not ready for.

Defeating fascism is going to require a broad coalition, which means working with a lot of people we don't personally like, at least in the times where our interests align.

Leonard Nimoy read off the quotes that popped up whenever you researched new techs in Civ IV, if that's what you're thinking of.

Yep, that was me! Glad you enjoyed it enough to remember it after so long!

Kung Pow is one of the rare few movies to do the whole "we're intentionally making a campy, so-bad-it's-good movie" and actually succeed in emulating that aesthetic and also making something enjoyable to watch.

Does that even count as a punchline? Man, not all of C&H aged particularly well...

This is just a straightforward headline, how does this at all resemble anything from The Onion?

I'm stateside, and I torrented something once without a VPN and got an email complaint from my ISP not long after.

Don't know if I've ever seen music from mods here before, but I've recently got back into the Anbennar mod for Europa Universalis IV. There is so much content for it at this point, it's kind of insane. The main theme also tends to get burned into my brain very easily...

I've only got a couple of Sbubbies left from my Reddit backups, but I haven't had the time to make any new ones...

Man, what a delightful little game. I guess it's not really "little," being a first-party Sony title and all, but it feels like a breath of fresh air compared to just about every other AAA-published title as of late. Cohesive, intuitive, and fun mechanics, whimsical environments with lots to explore, and not a single microtransaction in sight. Well-deserved Game of the Year.
