The 2nd movie was also based on a book (Lost World by Crichton), so it had solid source material to work with. It also helped that Spielberg was still involved.
I actually really liked the Lost World book, it was really engaging.
The movie was OK, it could have been a lot better, they failed to fully capitalize on the source material.
Rooty was the bomb! Basement Jaxx were on the top of the world at the turn of the millennium.
I remember listening to this when it just came out (and liquid drum & bass in general was the hot new thing). It's been 17 years since that moment. In another ~10 years Liquid D&B from the late 2000s will enter the hall of classics.
Dune Messiah is relatively simple to do compared to subsequent novels. It's almost an extension of the original Dune.
But even with Dune 1/2, I talked to many people who haven't read the novels and they found Dune 2 confusing. Dune 1 was like the first ~20% of the book. The last 80% of the story needed more; how I wish Villeneuve had the opportunity to make a full trilogy.
I am worried that beyond Dune: Messiah, it will become increasingly difficult to make a good movie adoption. Children and God Emperor are probably easier, Chapterhouse and Heretics will likely be very challenging.
I expected Deadstream to be somewhere between mediocre and bad.
It would rate it as above average, I've even watched it again after seeing it for the first time.
I honestly haven't seen anything after Lost World (novel was great too). It seems like the release a new Jurassic Park movie every 2-3 years these days.
EDIT: And this made by Gareth Edwards, I loved Monsters! Believe it or not, it's probably one of my top 10 movies.
I have one or two YIFY movies that I haven't been able to find on multiple private trackers (that usually cover all my needs) and the seed ratio is over 1,000 (since early 2021).
Public torrents of course get a lot of action (even relatively niche content).
Watched this in the cinema earlier today, as someone who used to watch F1 for over a decade (been meaning to get back into it for what seems like 5 years), I enjoyed it.
The plot is pretty predictable, but I thought the delivery was entertaining and generally respectful of the sport.
I think that would be a good move for the mods.

I never said Lost World was better than Jurassic Park. :) I did think the book was closer to the quality of the original (but never reaching it) while the movie version was mediocre.
I am surprised they haven't released a Timeline movie yet, it seems like a good fit for a mass market movie (plus you'll have all the Crichton fans).
