I used to get so angry seeing stories like this…

At this point it just increases my sadness. America (my country) is completely fucked and there is no way out of it until we completely hit bottom, like an addict. It will be decades before America hits bottom, long after I am dead and it will take generations to build something better, no guarantee that will happen.

I feel tremendous sadness for my children and all of the rest of our younger citizens that will live through all of this to never see or experience anything better.

Advancements in technology since Reagan’s attempt makes this more feasible today. While it is more technically feasible it is just as stupid now as it was then.

Article failed to cover whether there was any diversity among the recipients of the homes. Given the time frame this happened in, I suspect this mostly if not entirely benefited white people. A big part of our country not having programs like this is rooted in fear that non whites might benefit. Good ole racism… convincing poor whites to vote against their own interests.
