For Total Annhialation section: https://zero-k.info/

Zero Knhas been in active dev much longer than BAR, is more mature, has a well-established little cult community, and IMO is the better game. And still OSS ofc.

You really think Skyrim belongs there? I'd agree that Elder Scrolls deserves a place, but what did Skyrim do that wasn't done by Oblivion or even Morrowind?

Source was not an internal engine, it was an openly available engine used by numerous non-Valve games (The Ship, Garrys Mod, Titanfall, Dear Esther, etc etc).

It is so weird that the article repeatedly acknowledges that this isn't really unique and other companies and researchers are doing the same, but they're only covering this one because it relates to Musk. What is it about Musk that makes every little thing he does "newsworthy"?

Most of his other companies are not publicly traded, so there isn't much direct comparison. But Tesla has widely been known to be hugely over-inflated for years and years now, the bubble had to burst sooner or later. It is definitely being hit harder than the rest.

If influential means influencing game design / the industry, inspiring other creators by demonstrating novel ideas, I'd probably have to say Doom or Half-Life. Doom really showed what an FPS could be and kicked off such a dominant genre. Half-Life introduced immersive storytelling that greatly influenced FPS and non-FPS games.

Interesting, good job. Random thought: I wonder if a dog could be trained to help locate refuse in areas like this? But I suppose there is a risk that they could hurt themselves, picking up glass or a syringe etc.

VerticaGG is misrepresenting how this actually works. The main FIDE chess league is open to anyone, men or women or whatever. But because women tend to do worse in chess (for whatever reason, you can discuss why until the cows come home but it isn't the point) exclusive women-only titles and tournaments were created in order to encourage more women to take part.

For example there is the Woman Grand Master title which is significantly easier to achieve than regular Grand Master, but women can and have achieved both.

It seems to have worked, too. The top women players today are fantastic, and have dramatically reduced the gap in the top rankings. We could yet see a woman as world champion for the first time.

This makes no sense to me. What exactly do you have against atheists? Are you religious yourself?

Pretty much my thoughts, too. There were several elements that seemed really interesting but weren't ever fully explored, and the main drive or goal of the story kept changing. Definite pacing issues.

One in particular was this idea of Jinx as an icon of rebellion. They spent several episodes building up this idea of Jinx taking Silco's place as the decfacto leader of Zorn, but uniting them in a way Silco never could because she has become such an icon to the people. Then the werewolf daddy plot hit like a freight train and that whole build-up was forgotten about.

If you learn Rust, you'll find that you'd choose it over C/++ even without the brrow checker. Every little part of the development experience is just so much better.

You have clearly never experienced extreme pain. The last time I suffered a severe shoulder dislocation was almost like an out-of-body experience. The pain overwhelmed the ability to form coherent thoughts, it was like an electrical storm in my brain. The intuitive motor system took complete control as I writhed around, limbs flinging in random directions. I heard someone scream at the top of his lungs, and only afterwards realised that it was me.

Pain absolutely does have a physical component, and it is not something you can overcome just by practicing meditation. Though, I'm not saying that doesn't help in some scenarios.
