If you want a good socialist podcast about agriculture I recommend this https://turbonics.substack.com/

middle class Hexbear redditors: "I don't want to have kids because of my depression uwu" eh. I mean like yeah I think some people on here buy the basic premise that giving birth to children is wrong because you can't get their consent which in essense is giving waaaay too much credence to bourgeois-enlightenment concepts of reducing social relationships and obligations to consent and contractualism.

That being said idk this really just seems like "I dont like middle income people so I'm going to mash together the middle class desire to not have a kid to the (allegedly) middle class phenomena of having mental health issues which just seems kinda incoherent and not motivated by a productive impulse.

I am always overhearing them always talking about new innovations that can enrich their lives, I have never heard a gamerchair socialist talk about stuff like new sustainable HVAC technology or new types of fabric that can keep people cool under the looming global warming holocaust or whatever. The only thing a gamerchair will do is cry about how "hopeless" and "doomed" they are because their anti-communist wannabee bourgeois individualism (aka neoliberalism) leads to nihilism and despair

Yeah I do agree that there is too much political nihilism on hexbear. The Socialist left is bigger in America than it has been since the 60's and there is really no value in spreading any idea that prevents people from getting organized. There are so many projects and organizations to get involved in. You can join the CPUSA, the DSA, and if you are so inclined to the IWW. If these don't interest you then there are so many local organizing projects that are much harder to find but if you really dig into it then you can find them. Beyond that if there's literally nothing then there has never been a better time to just try to network with people online or in your local area since there's never been another time in the last 4 decades that people have been more receptive to socialist politics.

That being said, I'm not sure if the best way to combat left-podcast induced nihilism is to go on about it like this. It's better to plug into local organizing and use your platform here to try to plug people in and show people that there is another way.

These people are bad but i'll take them over anti-natalists. Alot of anti-natalists will actively argue against child welfare and education spending because its public money that isn't being spent on the virtous child-free couples who are trying to go r/leanfire. At least this is partially taking the shit out of these people even if it has it's own anti-social bent to it

That doesn't mean much really. The failure rate for going vegetarian or vegan is about the same, between 80-90%. It's about the same for any major dietary change. Changing what you eat is extremely difficult, no matter what the change is, weather it's eating less, eating more, or eating different foods. Most people will fall back into old habits at some point. It's not an individual problem, it's a problem with the food industry and society, like you said in the last paragraph. That doesn't mean individuals shouldn't try change where they can though. It's much harder than it should be, but it is worthwhile at the end of the day.

I mean, it does mean much. It means that any attempt at doing so is more or less fruitless and people who say otherwise are just exhibiting confirmation bias and are almost certainly more privileged than the 90%. And of course I'd also say that's why moralizing vegetarian or vegan diets is also nonsense for the same reason.

Lurker here who made an account to post. As a Marxist who isn't a "Dengist", I genuinely thought it was bannable not to be a dengist. If you want people with other opinions like me to post it needs to be at least somewhat clear that if I post here disagreeing with some of the "Xi Pilled" stuff that I won't get banned.
