Gonna make a hot take that I dont think anyone will like but here it goes.
Literally so what? You don't need to leave a 5 mile square radius to have a full life. People have lived their entire lives in a 25 square mile area and have had full and fulfilling lives for the entirety of human history.
We just live in an era of capitalist alienation and dissolution of communities and social ties that gives people a sense of listlessness and we are sold an environmentally unsustainable idea that we can simply release the pressure gauge of alienation and misery by visiting another town and seeing different buildings and trees twice a year for two weeks and our lives are more fulfilling and become more worldly.
"Wanderlust" is just a symptom of hedonic treadmill and a fundamentally unfulfilling life. For every 1-2K spent on "travel" you could do so many more positive things for yourself and your community that are actually meaningful and valuable.
Even if you manage to have a good time in one of these other cities, towns or areas all you will do is create a new desire to return to them. A gapping hole of desire that obliterates any attempt to fill it and draws everything around it into a pit of misery.
Many areas of the world suck and it makes sense to want to relocate.
But if you can't find a 5-10 square mile area that you could see yourself living for the rest of your life and never leaving then the problem lies in your own heart and no material possession or amount of travel will ever satisfy you.

Could you please share any good alternatives? I've been unaware of these issues until now and to be honest, I doubt that I see myself expending the energy to read this article.
That being said, right now Brave provides a very easy to use ad-free experience that is great for running youtube in the background ad-free. It's pretty good for listening to lectures on youtube and performs much better than podbean which often freezes randomly, a bug that is pretty bad given that I listen to alot of these things while driving and am unable to fidget with it.
Is there a similar browser that has these functionalities that works as well or better? If so I'd gladly switch over and encourage my partner to do the same.

i mean that is a fair point. i guess its just because for the most part the u.s is considered the measuring stick for democratic rights since it is the self-appointed "leader of the free world". but yeah ofc places like sweden and most of europe have better queer rights than either china and the u.s
im not really a "dengist" or someone who believes that china is socialist. that being said one of my comrades is a chinese trans woman who goes to informed consent clinics in china and visits the major cities there quite often and is able to get alone without any discrimination or molestation by the public at large.

generally its better for trans people and gender conforming queer people in china but its pretty bad for gender non-conforming queer people a la their restrictions on "sissy boys" which is pretty bad and generally you won't see talked about on hexbear

Bullshit to say this about China
I'm not one of these pro-china people but in it's current state, China has way more rights for trans people than the U.S. There are informed consent clinics in a number of cities and while I'm sure trans woman are discriminated against there there are no laws directly discriminating against them.
Meanwhile the U.S basically bans trans people (and sometimes gay people) from existing in half of this country by land mass. Not even going to say that china has a "good" queer rights record or even one that's worthy of a socialist country but like China and Vietnam have better queer rights than any other countries in Asia (other than maybe japan) and def in the U.S
There might have been an argument that the U.S was a better place to be queer in like 2018 but we don't live in 2018 anymore
strong agree. honestly alot of the lefty urbanite types here don't realize you can make very pleasant areas with multi-family units and attached single family units that provide walkable ammenities and don't have to force people to live in 600 sq ft.

i've lived like this and trust me you don't want this. the place becomes infested with bugs and mold and the fridge becomes unusuable because it's so full and you end up eating out way more which kills alot of the money you saved by living in a shithole.
Plus god forbit you don't wake up 2 hours before work and you have to choose between go to work smelling like shit or being 45 minutes late because there's a line to the shower
