While I agree with you, it's also hard for me to feel bad for Reddit in this scenario.
I think it's not relevant to our cause either way and it's something that will be forgotten about eventually even if whatever data gets leaked publicly.
We just gotta focus on making Lemmy better and more desirable.
To be fair to the screaming in the thumbnail, and zoomers in general, scanners and printers are generally universally awful lol
We can put a man on the moon, but you want to print text on a piece of paper? ERROR: PC LOAD LETTER
Doesn't that only mean they aren't making Xbox One games? I'm pretty sure third-party companies will still make Xbox One games, or does it literally mean no more new Xbox One games?
RIF right until I stopped using reddit.
That's true, that's a good point. Well I guess the only thing you can do is hope that doesn't happen lol
Setting up a Lemmy instance isn't the easiest thing, and automating it is even more challenging, so I don't necessarily think it's the kind of thing that can be done so easily. It's like 100x harder than creating a new account so I feel like It's not something that would be abused as much as like creating new accounts would be. I think it'll probably be fine.
I think as long as you don't give them reason to, they won't have any reason to block you. They'd have to explicitly block you, after all. If they aren't noticing any problems then I don't see why they'd take the time to block you.
So basically, you should be fine.
I'm also planning on hosting my own Lemmy instance at some point too.
That is actually exactly it lmao
Point 1 is part of why I'm gonna start self-hosting a Lemmy instance at some point. If I host my own instance then I can back up my data and ensure it's never lost.
Yep, it's bound to happen as the instances get larger. For example, it's why I will mention there are actually awesome leaked playable builds of Gears of War 3 on PC which are super fun to play, but I won't link directly to them.
I think badges could be a decent modern feature that other modern websites have, and if it helps support instances too I think that would be a good side effect.
Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost Recon Wildlands immediately come to mind. Plus with Ghost Recon Wildlands has an awesome First Person Mod on PC so you switch between them which is nice.
