While I sort of agree. I’m just gonna say, you ain’t gonna find anything mainstream western media that doesn’t have major ties to unethical corpos unless you basically force yourself to only use AP and the Guardian (and even then, pretty sure they still have dodgy ties, just it’s not as visible since no direct “ownership”.)

They are two examples of more believable / trustworthy western news outlets, I don't think anyone in this thread is anywhere close to implying all western news is true or that all non-western news is false.

Concerning genocide, almost everybody on earth agrees the only sensible thing is to stop it; that's why most pro-Israeli news act as if there is no genocide happening there. I think they are wrong, Israel is committing genocide.

I don't think he likes being there, but probably does feel safer there then in a western country or a state allied to US.

  • The Motion Picture Association (MPA) is pressing for VPN providers, proxies, and Content Delivery Systems to cooperate with anti-piracy measures
  • The MPA also urges the EU to adopt an automated system that can block pirated content in real-time, without the need for court approval.
  • Italy and France have already begun forcing some VPN and DNS services to block access to illegal streaming sites

The Guardian publishes articles critical of the genocide in Gaza, which is the only correct position to take on the issue. However they have served Zionist interests in the past and carried water for US warmongers.

You can be independent and still carry interests of Zionistd and US warmongers, both knowingly and unknowingly. You have every right to be skeptical because of previous publications and also every right to share that here, not trying to argue there, but there is no such things as always having the correct position. Every media outlet will at some point publish something questionable. My point being, you should never swallow news as a definite truth also when you're trusting a certain source in general.

But this isn't really evidence that they are.

So what you meant was: this isn't enough evidence to change my mind. That is a very different statement. I think this doesn't prove anything but it does support op's previous claims Reddit boosts Ars Technica content.

This isn't showing Reddit is shitty, it is showing it is used by it's parent company to influence the media landscape. That is not just shitty, it is amoral and can be very dangerous when it comes to political pieces.

Tech companies are using media companies to shape the world to their liking, just like robber barrons and aristocrats used to.

I wonder in what ways he means dependence, because in a lot of ways we are getting less dependent on US but there are a few things we can't do ourselves yet and it will take time to get it done. I hope he is saying we will have to rely on the US to appease Trump, knowing we should move away ASAP instead of him actually believing it. I'm afraid it is the latter.

most people in the US were too distracted

Don't worry folks, the 125 party states were not distracted. Can't say if it will have consequences for the US or it's citizens but this is not going unnoticed.

The study found middle-aged adults could reverse 20 years of age-related decline in their heart muscles through a 2 year exercise program, and that it effectively turned sedentary 55-year-olds into 30-year-olds when viewed through heart activity monitoring equipment

through a 2 year exercise program

The Europol-supported operation led to 79 arrests and 1.400 identifications

Kidflix, one of the largest paedophile platforms in the world, has been shut down in an international operation against child sexual exploitation. The investigation was supported by Europol and led by the State Criminal Police of Bavaria (Bayerisches Landeskriminalamt) and the Bavarian Central Office for the Prosecution of Cybercrime (ZCB). Over 35 countries worldwide participated in the operation.

A total of 1.8 million users worldwide logged on to the platform between April 2022 and March 2025. On 11 March 2025, the server, which contained around 72 000 videos at the time, was seized by German and Dutch authorities.

The investigation resulted in the identification of almost 1 400 suspects worldwide. So far, 79 of these individuals have been arrested for sharing and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Some of those arrested not only uploaded and watched videos but also abused children. The investigation is ongoing.

Nine Red Crescent crew members were missing for a week after they came under Israeli fire in Rafah.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says 15 bodies have been found in Rafah, southern Gaza, a week after its first responders came under heavy fire from Israeli forces.

The PRCS said on Sunday that eight of the bodies have been identified as PRCS members, six as members of the Civil Defence, and one as a UN agency employee. One PRCS first responder is still missing.

The group said the those killed “were targeted by the Israeli occupation forces while performing their humanitarian duties as they were heading to the Hashashin area of Rafah to provide first aid to a number of people injured by Israeli shelling in the area”.

“The occupation’s targeting of Red Crescent medics … can only be considered a war crime punishable under international humanitarian law, which the occupation continues to violate before the eyes of the entire world.”

In an earlier statement the Red Crescent said the bodies “were recovered with difficulty as they were buried in the sand, with some showing signs of decomposition”.

PRCS President Younis al-Khatib condemned Israel for targeting its paramedics as they “fulfil their humanitarian mission”.

“Those souls are not mere numbers. If this incident [happened] anywhere else, the whole world would have moved heaven and earth to expose this war crime,” al-Khatib said on Sunday.

The Netherlands has issued a new warning to Dutch citizens considering travel to the United States if they are gay, lesbian, transsexual, or another gender or sexual minority. The Dutch government also warned, "The US government has tightened entry controls for foreign visitors," echoing similar concerns raised by other countries, including the United Kingdom and Germany, in messages to their citizens.

Quite some of the companies in these three lists are American so they might not be the best eu alternatives, but still wanted to share these three lists.
