Sorry for the late reply but the driver stuff was me trying out proprietary vs community Nvidia drivers and then just weird things that would happen on restarts after switching/updating drivers. I have an intermittent issue where the primary monitor (I have two) alternates being entirely light grey, red, blue, and green upon startup I haven't researched it yet because I just restart the computer and it is fine. And it has happened maybe 3 times over the last month (amongst dozens of restarts). There are a few things like that that only happened once so I wrote off the occurrence.

I have had the most luck with the proprietary Nvidia driver so far.

I actually just moved my gaming PC from Win11 to Mint Cinnamon 2 weeks ago. There was some driver fuckery (I have an Nvidia card) that made things a bit wonky but everything worked out after some adjustments.

Do you mostly game through steam? Do you install your games on a separate drive?

Steam makes the transition the easiest. All of my games "just worked" with Steam. There were a few modifications required to ensure stability with the games settings but it was mostly smooth sailing for me.

I just used thumb drives to pull all my games save files to and an external drive to back up all my installed games so I wouldn't have to re download them. Save game files are usually pretty small so all of the ones I had backed up on a single thumb drive and Steam and Linux creates a faux Windows folder system for each game and you just reinsert the save games in those folder structures at the correct spot.

I still have the original stuff those prints were based on and it is weird not seeing it as just plastic gray. It looks good!

I think in the 2nd Edition and 3rd edition of the Chaos codices, there were only blurbs about the Emperor's Children (And Fulgrim) pre-heresy. If any pre-heresy info at all. But it has been forever since I cracked either of those open and I have them in storage somewhere.

The first actual pre-heresy and heresy information I remember is from the Adeptus Astartes articles on White Dwarf ~25 years ago. I haven't read those since they came out but I had a subscription then and I probably have those in storage as well. I looked it up and the issue with the Emperor's Children is issue 255 but I didn't find a PDF or a link for you. I think if you have a Warhammer subscription, you can look at any White Dwarf there.

Going off of (old) memories, I think the gist was generally Horus was extremely respected by Fulgrim and a great orator, so with a bit of mind altering drugs and some good ole manipulation, Fulgrim joined Horus.

He is in the bottom right, pictured with Epstein.

I recognize the bottom two, but not the top one. Those uniforms look like The Orville but I don't recognize that character at all. But I also never watched S3 and it's been since they aired (5 years?) that I watched the first two seasons of that show.

Edit: Looks like I missed the comment saying who the top character is, which is from S3 of The Orville, so I guess I am out of the loop on this one.

He's off a bit there. They stopped the show with the end of Book 6, right before the time jump for Book 7. So they didn't make the final 3 books into the show. There's hints and foreshadowing for them.

Also the books don't directly correlate with seasons until Season 4.

  • Book 1: Season 1 and first half of Season 2
  • Book 2: Second half of Season 2 and first half of Season 3
  • Book 3: Shortened and only the second half of Season 3.
  • Book 4: Season 4
  • Book 5: Season 5
  • Book 6: Season 6 (but only 6 long episodes)

People also have survivorship bias with these things. Sure your refrigerator might have lasted forever but quite a few others did not. There is a reason why appliance repair places existed and were much more common than today.

You'll be okay, regardless. You have the skills and can prove it, if given the chance. It is just frustrating trying to get to that point sometimes. Just keep your head up and reiterate the specifics of your skills to recruiters and during phone screens. Once you get to those first actual interviews, it gets a lot easier since so many people have this shared experience. I had so many interviewers ask the same question I felt like I was reciting a monologue from a movie after a while. :D
