I definitely want to go at some point. I have some friends that have been to the one in Denver and really liked it.

I would edit the title if it were incorrect, but it's not.

This evidently happened on Sunday. This is the perfect example of the sort of thing which makes me sometimes ashamed and even afraid to live in Texas. We should be above this. How hypocritical.

Authorities in Plano, Texas, are investigating what they call "an intentionally set fire" at a Unitarian Universalist church Sunday, just weeks after it was targeted for criticism in a video by an anti-LGBTQ Christian YouTuber.

A passerby spotted flames coming from Community Unitarian Universalist Church early Sunday, Plano Fire-Rescue said in a statement. The fire was around the front door and was extinguished quickly, causing no injuries, it said.

The voting process was young. It probably wasn't great. It might have even been a "shitshow." But it was still good enough to agree on defederating a malicious instance.

I do not believe that free speech is compatible with social media. None of the social media platforms are public squares. They are all private. For instance, sh.itjust.works has the “no bigotry” and “be respectful” rules which disqualify us from being a free speech platform. Doxxing is, in and of itself, not illegal, and yet it's not allowed even on Twitter. Most places are not friendly to porn, either.

Doesn't the OP say that exploding-heads is filled with bots, though? That they are a disreputable instance is just a distraction now, I think.

"Free speech" is not compatible with social media, in my opinion. We have the "no bigotry" and "be respectful" rules, which already disqualifies us from being a free speech platform. Lemmy instances, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit; none of them are public squares.

They are a bot instance, though. And a Nazi instance.

Hello, I'm new here! I'm currently trying to find communities to join. One of them I ran across which I'd personally like to join is https://lemmy.world/c/dfw , which I believe should translate to https://sh.itjust.works/c/dfw@lemmy.world , but that currently gives me a 404. Is there any reason for this? Am I doing something wrong? I appreciate the help!
