Interesting little stat about Porro in that Udogie article:

👆 This is an excellent interview with Madders if you’ve not already watched it. Fascinating to hear direct from a key player what Ange is really like. He really is as he’s been described. It’s not a mythology that has built around him, and players seem to really get on with his style.

Adam on Lo Celso: "He did not misplace one single pass in the entire 90 minutes EVEN with Rodri up his arse"

Almost true. He made 40 out of 40 passes for 100% accuracy, but he "only" played 79', not 90. Still, impressive given the intense circumstances.

Yes, for sure, Poch was the real deal and Levy should not have sacked him. The Stadium has been a huge distraction (then Covid right after it opened), but I understand from a business perspective why it was needed. It could be seen as a masterstroke once the regulator comes in and FFP rules are actually upheld. The need for a sustainable and diverse income at clubs at the top is important.

But for me Levy handled it all badly, including those 3 managers after Poch.

Something Noel mentioned several times: it'll take 10 years.

He was talking about getting to a place where you can take winning the Champion's League seriously. A real contender, not just a fluky run. This is how long it took City to get there with SERIOUS football people running the club from top to bottom with a long-term vision.

He mentioned the 10 years figure in regards to Newcastle and United, but it applies to Spurs too. Arsenal further in. Chelsea? 🤷‍♂️

Other clips in that fascinating interview with Noel Gallagher. I always love to hear him talk about City and football in general. He's a knowledgable fan with nuanced understanding of the game, imo.

Yes, I completely agree you can't draw statistically significant conclusions from them.

What it does suggest, however, is that a narrative of VAR being horribly broken with officials being in the pocket of UAE etc and punishing Liverpool doesn't seem to fit? Is VAR correcting any bias?

Anyway, I'll take a good look at that bias data - it's definitely piqued my interest.

Also, thought I'd add, what a thoroughly decent bunch we have here on fedi. So unlike Twitter.

The analysis also takes into account subjective decisions, not just goals.

I'm not sure every fanbase does think refs are out to get them. I don't get that sense in the Spurs community, for instance. But can't speak for everyone.

So no, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of why Liverpool fans seem to think they get an unfair share of bad decisions leading to talk of conspiracy theories.

Hillsborough and Thatcherism don't seem like particularly valid reasons.
