MODERATOR OF
[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I'll be working on some better moderation tooling for next year's canvas (+ any other fediverse event) but with the nature of this, the tooling won't be in the open :/

here's the issue i created for enabling these external moderation tools

if you have any suggestions (execution or specific checks) feel free to shoot me a DM on matrix

thank you (and everyone else in this thread) for the constructive feedback!

i've added the timers as an issue in the tracker to help with keeping track of everything

i think i got the main points given in this thread, but if theres something you think is missing feel free to reply to this so i can add it ๐Ÿ‘

i've also added the weird zooming issue also

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

i'm glad you enjoyed the event, it was really fun to run (even with the issues ๐Ÿ˜…)

i've added your suggestion to the issue tracker so i can keep track of it

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

sounds like a very neat suggestion

i've added it to the issue tracker so i don't lose it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorry, I phrased it badly ๐Ÿ˜…

There's no user table (from the server) but each pixel is tagged with whoever placed the pixel

I've edited my original post so it doesn't confuse more people

[โ€“] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago (2 children)

There is no tools right now that allow that to happen

but the database dump is tagged in this post which would allow for people to make those tools ๐Ÿ™

The matrix homeserver that was being used was in the same VM as the rest of my fediverse services, which all of them got hammered when the event started

Before next years event (or any other event) I am going to be getting a dedicated server for all of my fediverse services to prevent this

fediverse-auth (the login system running at auth.fediverse.events) is fully OpenID connect compliant so it should be pretty easy to implement into other projects

Looks really neat though!

The source for that is available on the gitlab https://git.sc07.company/sc07/fediverse-auth

Yep, I saw that after the event concluded

The user did get punished during the event for exploiting that bug tho

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (2 children)

what error are you getting?

i'd love to help solve this before the event is over ๐Ÿ˜…

always wondered this, but kept forgetting to post it

eg users would be on @[email protected] and a community would be on @[email protected] or something like that

then it would still follow the AP spec but still allow for identical identifiers (like a user account being @[email protected] and a community also being [[email protected]](/c/[email protected]))

basically what the title says

the ones i'm aware of:

  • google's recaptcha
  • ~~cloudflare's~~ hcaptcha

cloudflare being better for privacy compared to google, but still not great afaik

so the sidebar now has our uptime

i love content warning on steam and noticed the in-game youtube clone can be used directly in a domain, and i immediately thought of peertube

this peertube instance is intended for the game clips that are generated in-game such as this one

i'd love to add a steam login feature to expand but we'll see lol

enjoy

oh also here's the game on steam

the bot is broken, but there's a new Cortex

if you have $5 to spare every month, consider setting up a reoccurring donation to support toast.ooo and the other things i run :)

donations are accepted via liberapay at https://liberapay.com/sc07/donate liberapay accepts credit cards & paypal, whichever is easier for you

donating is completely optional, please do not feel pressured to donate

donations will go towards:

  • maintenance of the services
  • off-site backups
  • development of projects (such as Canvas)

this has been setup for a while but it's just been one line on the sidebar of the site and i decided i should make a post about it :P

not limiting it to the ones that get recommended, i just want to know the ones that i should definitely test with to ensure they work :)

If you notice any spam posts/accounts, make sure to report them so they can get banned!

You can also message me on Matrix

here's my terrible canvas logo

Not entirely sure how that would work, but it would be a cool idea anyhow

Maybe a hook into Peertube or Owncast? although hooking into those might be out of scope for a Lemmy client idk

Edit: RPAN was Reddit's short-lived livestreaming experiment, which ended up being killed due to the cost of running a service like that.

How i envision it working within Mlem is that it would display an in-app embed (or native support) for videos hosted via PeerTube or Owncast in the feed (possibly taking up the native resolution / aspect ratio)

To improve discoverability, mlem would (theoretically) recommend communities that are tagged (probably via a #tag in the description) or something like that
