I’m using the AdGuard extension. Would this potentially be a preferred alternative?

As of brother Lance has been hearing my prayers. He just put a video out, really tripping my understanding of dialling in. Honestly, I have to admit I have been fixated about achieving high pressure, and it’s true the window of balance seems to be really small, resulting more often in mudy bitter harshness.

Going to give turbo a shot.

I put a temperature probe in the E61 grouphead to check the temp on the Mara X, and now i can coffidanlty say it does have stable temperature control. It reads a 1-2 Celsius higher in the E61 injection point, right about the shower, than what the manual says the temp ought to be in the various modes, so there might be some heat lose when the water hits the coffee. Several times I tried Mode 0 to potentially offset the high reading temperature, it doesn't seem to be a good match for the medium roasts.

with these precision baskets, targeting a shot time first seems to go out the window. Like you also say, go off taste is what i try. But then changing variables don't always result in my intended effect.

I like to believe i have my puck prep pretty much dailed in, at the very least consistent.

An obvious variable many like to point out are good quality fresh beans. I always buy from reputable local roasters. Buy in batch, rest for 1-2 weeks, freeze, and take out a week's worth of beans as i go. There might be a bad batch occasionally, but i seem to screw up on the simple blend roasts too.

the crema is indeed non-existent on these beans, I have seen the same on other beans I used that are on the older side. I am not a crema hunter, sure looks nice, but when there is plenty I dilute it with the rest of the cup usually. Of course in this case, might be an indicator that the beans are a bit stale.

You give a good suggestion, I might indeed give the beans a shot in my Clever dripper instead, even though there are 'espresso roast'. They are definitely very lightly roasted for espresso. I might be chasing a brew method that doesnt yield the best result anymore.

These DAK beans aside, all my other frustrations are still there. I had luck this morning, grinder a bit finer brewing a blend for my cappuccino. And I have a ton 3x1 kg of brazilian roasts, from classic medium roast to anaerobic fermented, to try out the spectrum.

I am getting a puck screen in the mail soon, in order to eliminate some of the headspace with lower doses. In the 17-19 grams pullman basket, i consistently seem to get better results with 19-21 gram doses, but i don't want to drink and waste so much coffee.

HI y'all. I am getting increasingly frustrated with my espresso journey, now peaking with a serious attempt on getting an acceptable shot.

My SO gifted me DAK beans, so i am trying to make the best out of it. I didn't want to tell her the roast date has been a little longer than i normally aim for, but 6 weeks beans we still do okay right.

The shots run extremely fast 10 sec prefinsue, and another 10-14 seconds and its done to 1:2 or 1:2.5 ratio. The pressure only builds up to 5 bar. My first shot at 18.1 gr in and the initial grind setting was smooth to some extent, watery, and sweetness didn't stick for long. Bitter at the end lingered. Hence i figured for the second attempt to extract more 'mid'-shot by grinder finer and cut output shorter to prevent bitterness.

To my surprise, the second shot ran faster. Immediately hit with acidity, followed by harshness. Is this an underextraction? I couldn't recognise defects from the bottomless pf as it run so fast. Didn't see channelling perse.   All the variables I changed for the second shot should have promoted an increase in extraction but it didn't. I don't think going coarser is the route, as the pressure build up is at 5 bar low already.

My setup:

  • Lelit Mara X, descaler, relativly good quality dutch tap water, temp mode I 92C-94Cish. OPV set for 8 bar boiler pressure.
  • Pullman Filtration876 precision basket 17-19 gr
  • wdt
  • level tamping, either with normal tamper or normcor
  • DF64 gen 1, SSP HU burs, aligned myself with a couple of shims.

Since I got the Pullman basket, extraction time has drastically decreased, which I understand is expected with precision baskets. Results have been.. varying. Also with a simple medium roast blend coffee, i moreover don't even dare to serve it to my family, who just expect a classic. Shots turn out overly harsh.

I am 5 years into my espresso journey, thought i learned a lot. But realise tasting coffee becomes increasingly difficult and frustrating. I start doubting myself, do I taste floral or sourness, is this over or under extracted? One thing is certain, I have flashy gear, expensive beans, but distasteful coffee.

Hope to tap in the knowledge of some of the espresso gods in this lemmy.

How is the heat production and ticking noise on the Belkin? I have been pretty content with a qi1 anker magnetic puck charger, but I read the qi2 from them gets pretty hot.

I am not the full expert on the subject, but I assume the profiling is to a lesser extent. For one you don’t browse within a Google account.

I also like the slimmed down UI and subscription management of invidious compared to yt.

And don’t forget no ads and sponsorblock. Although some add ons like vinegar for safari get you pretty close to uninterrupted viewing.

All said, probably not the best in regards to pure privacy.

How quickly those this flood your storage?

Currently I ran invidious in docker. The solution is … just okay, performance isn’t great. But at least you only stream whatever you pick for watching.

I only follow around 15 channels. For simplicity 10 video are added daily to my subscription feed.

Are there privacy concerns with this solution. This together with ad blocking were my main drivers for invidious.

What is your use case? Or is it only to cloak from your isp?

Schwartz wald comes to mind. Vosges if you cross the valley. I bet anywhere within the alps is epic. Can’t really give you specifics, as I’m not a hiker. But my mate lives in Switzerland and does a fair bit of alpinism.

I have been waiting to get approved for a peertube account on tilvids.com, but after 7 days i am still waiting. Did you manage to get it in dev mode already? I have the video for you still, if you have a suggestion for another platform i can upload it to.

See my video (once i figure out how to upload videos to lemmy..). You will have to

  • turn on the device, leave it unplugged.
  • push power + up + down
  • connect to the computer and refresh

It might not go in one try. it took me three times before I got it.

I only got to know about these remarkable handhelds a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t resist getting a rg35xx h. It arrived just in time for our summer holiday family trip. Tonight we are staying in a 14th century castle in the Eiffel region, and here I am getting to know Rondo of Blood for the first time. Man, this pretty insane.

Hi, Something that I would like to achieve, to have the Proton Pass browser extension require a 2fa sign in when it is auto-locked. In Bitwarden this can be done by setting the auto lock to sign out from the extension. Right now, only a pin or password is required to sign back into your proton pass vault when it is auto locked in the extension.

You could consider your threat models; unwaking your computer with a password and reentering your pin is a two step excercise, but i am also using proton pass on my work laptop. I would really like an additional step like my yubikey, such that i have extra reassurance for not being scoped.

Hi everyone, i hope to find any of the r/Velo geeks here as well.

I finally got myself a nice carbon Wheelset, Lun Winspace Hyper 23 SE 40mm, it has a 21 internal width and nearly 28mm outer width. Now i am undecided which tyres to fit the set. I have the choice out of two sets that i have laying around in fairly mint conditions. The first is the conti gp5000 S TR 28mm and the second the conti gp5000 AS TR 32mm. I got the latter to fit my winter configuration, and I have enjoyed it on the Aluminum DT Swiss P1850 wheels, internal width 19mm.

Winspace specifies the Hyper 23 SE is best matched with 25-28mm tires, following the transition from rim to tire is nearly flat, beyond the 28mm you can get a little bulp, potentially sacrificing aero benefits. Peak torque had made a very insightful video about this too where he concluded the airflow might not attached back to the rim using the wider tire. Now, i am not a racer, but i do enjoy optimising the configuration.

Another point of consideration is the weight, it seems the S TR 28mm weighs around 280 grams, and the AS TR 32mm a full 105 grams more. That is 210 grams for a set. Around me, the area is flat as a pancake, but next month I aim to cycle the Amstel Gold 150km, that will have a more fluent course where lower weight can help me getting up the hills faster for less power. Saving me energy to help avoid being slowest in our group of friends.

Bicyclerollingresistance has made analyses of both tires, but categorised the AS TR 32mm as a gravel tire, so i can’t make a head to head comparison on the site. They did have the AS TR 28mm in the road category to compare with the S TR 28mm. The 32mm and 35mm supposedly have a higher thread thickness compared to the smaller. Wet grip is also noted as a pro of the AS TR with a slight penalty on rolling resistance.

Many will say 32mm is simply more comfortable then 28mm due to lower pressure they allow. I am pretty lightweight, i think the system weight will tally up to 75 kg maybe, so i am not confidant i will get my best bang of comfort over mm when going from 28mm to 32mm.

Any opinions anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated

Help! I forgot to put the poolish in the refrigerator when I went to bed, it had been sitting on the kitchen counter at room temp for 10 hours. I put it in the fridge now to start adding part 2 tonight. Is my dough already beyond recovery?

The original ratios are 300 gr typo 00 300 gr water 6 gr fresh yeast 6 gr honey

I made a second poolish right now. It’s 8am , the pizza party is 36 hours away. Which do you reckon will be a better starter, batch 1 that is fermented over night at 17 degrees Celsius or the new starter with less time to develop.

I would love to see proton pass adopt a form of emergency access akin to Bitwarden. Have I missed it? I believe it’s crucial to have a trusted person be able to access your vault in the incident one is not able to.

Hi everyone. I am trying to repurpose an old Vero 4K+ that i have laying around. It is a Linux machine running Debian 11 bullseye, but I might need some help i am afraid.

Out of the HA versions, OS seemed like the one I want, for keeping the option for add ons. I went ahead and used the Installation method on generic x86/x64 Option 2. As such i created a bootable usb through Balena Etcher on my Mac, it seems to have succeeded.

After inserting the usb on the target device, it doesn’t let me boot from it. I read in the tutorial usually one would configure the bios on EFI and secure boot, as far as i am aware, the OSMC doesn’t have that. I assumed it would be able to boot from the USB as that is the exact way OSMC is installed.

I am able to bring up the terminal when I press ctrl on a keyboard during the boot sequence.

Do you think it is possible to install HA OS on the machine? I hope so, i am aiming to combine it with a Sonoff ZBdongle-E to start my journey into HA.

Hi all, i have this wear indicator and i am unclear what it exactly measures. I have a 11 speed chain that i am trying to measure and it almost fits. On other wear indicator tools i see they put 0.5 % / 0.75 % / 1 % annotations on it, that would have been helpful here too.

I looked at the documentation but it is not mentioned. When i put it next to a ruler, it think the indicator length is about 89mm.

Hi everyone, I am on holiday in Sweden and looking for some good beans. I will be around Gothenburg area, hence we will be visiting the city one day. My research let me to gringo Nordic coffee , looks really good as far I can tell from photos but really I have no idea. If you have a got recommendations which is not that area I can also easily ship it to my vacation address. I will appreciate any tips you might have!
