If you do that then you're probably violating your ISPs TOS and they'd can you anyways, and if they really don't like you sue for it.

I’m pretty sure OP is talking about security cameras, not webcams.

What’s the point in putting a camera in your house if it can’t see anything or it’s turned off?

For long drives I have maps up mostly to alert me for traffic. Even if I know the route.

Damn they're still going for $200+? At least it has a lot of ram. I got my T14 gen 1 (basic bitch i5) for $200 like 2 years ago. I just replaced it with an i7 T14s gen 3 for $250.

Side note: is there a buy/sell community on Lemmy? I have a bunch of old machines I need to sell off and I don't want to sell on eBay.

The Cherry MX greens I have in my WASD code are amazing. I also like my Kailh ancient greys in my keyboard at work

Somewhere in my closet I have an old AT keyboard thats just rubber domes, but have to be 120+ gram actuation force and I love it. They’re weirdly stiff then just give out randomly.

When I was a teenager I slept through a fire alarm once. I didn’t wake up until my mom walked in the room. I woke up before she said anything. Just her existing in my room for 0.5 seconds woke me.

So… idk.

I have a number of machines like this. I’m not sure if they were previously dropped, or just a manufacturing defect or what.

Since it’s an X230 do you have the 9 cell battery? If I remember right the bigger battery sticks out under the laptop too and maybe the battery is just uneven and the chassis is rigid enough it doesn’t sit flat.

Plex really needs to do a Tailscale style connection to your server. But instead they chose to keep their outdated method of funneling all of their traffic through their servers, and need to charge lots of money in order to pay for it.

But that's a reddit screenshot.

You could replace the caps if you wanted to keep that board around. Through hole caps are SUPER easy to replace. Just spend some time identifying the specs of all of the blown ones. The replace all of them (including the non blown ones) as long as they’re all the same manufacturer. I used to do this to old machines and it’s honestly quite fun.

Otherwise if you wanted a retro machine I think those machines are still getting thrown out. But maybe they’ve already reached the bottom of their value curve and are starting to go up. I’ve seen some whack ass prices.

Is there any plan to try to fix federation with hexbear.net? Shortly after their domain expired it stopped working, but now that it's back it doesn't seem to have resumed. Does Lemmy even have something in place to fix federation issues when something like this happens?

I have an X61 Tablet and I'd like to get the original Lenovo recovery media for XP tablet edition (I think version 2005) mostly so I can get all of the drivers and functionality working.

I currently have an XP Pro install but that doesn't have any of the special tablet features. And my xp tablet edition install decided it doesn't want to work anymore and BSODs on start, and I don't feel like dealing with the hunt for old drivers.

Does anyone know where or how I can acquire isos or even the actual recovery CDs for this machine?
