This is the world we live in. Where a twice-impeached convicted rapist who once represented this country- now has to be warned not to threaten witnesses in a trial where he’s accused of trying to overthrow his government- and… also happens to be the front runner in re-election.

I'm with you, ready for where you're gonna take me...

I now give up on America.

Goddamnit, no. That's not where you take this. You get angry, and you funnel your anger into something positive. You vote, you reach out to people, you contribute your time and energy supporting what you know is right, and you don't stop fighting. Unless of course you truly believe your side isn't worth fighting for. But from your first paragraph that doesn't seem to be the case.

Fight for what is right because your position is stronger, your supporters are smarter with better ethics. Recognize the dirty games the weak side is resorting to, and be right there to call it out and put a stop to it. We might be seeing the desperate, extreme death throes of a burning Republican party. But if you back off and throw your hands up, you give them the opportunity to manage the fire and keep trying to destroy this democracy.

They’re asking the court to get rid of that discriminatory denial so that they will not be barred from fostering or adopting children in the future, in Massachusetts or elsewhere.

Stop discriminating against our discrimination! Thanks for the good laugh, Michael and Catherine Burke.

First the Streisand effect led to her home. Now it leads to her entire discography. Poor Barbara Streisand.

I'll admit it, it was me. I mixed my paper with plastic. Sorry everyone.

This will be why we can't have nice things, won't it?

When you have all that money and fame to insulate you, self-preservation is no longer a concern.

why do the author's politics make a difference?

In this case it makes a difference because there has been an alarming increase in harmful lies made by the far right. This is a purposeful spread of misinformation that many people hesitate to get involved with in any way, and for good reason.

I do not trust the creator of Brave to be aligned with the far right and to still be guided by ethical conduct that I can trust. If you align yourself with people who lie and put others in danger for profit and control, you're condoning such behavior and may be capable of it yourself.

Something becoming more than the sum of its parts to such a degree would indeed be magic. Are you claiming we're AI computer programs and that real life is analogous to ChatGPT? Are information and consciousness synonymous? I would say that one of us indeed doesn't understand the complexity of the situation.

To be fair, it appears that by definition anyone who disagrees with them might have a hard time getting through.

skeptical of social change, instead tending to support the status quo

A more polite way of saying they're firmly stuck in their ways, unwilling to accept a different perspective.
