I'll almost guarantee you any "free" or otherwise unlicensed/amateur spectrum is going to be turned into commercial spectrum. Not only do they get to sell and trade it for billions more, but it also conveniently let's them shut down any form of non-corporate, decentralized communications channels that might let the Poors get a little too organized.

They already exist. You just have to look for "signage displays" or "commercial TV's", they come with all the smart crap stripped out.

That's what happens when accountants gain control of publicly traded companies, they see only cost centers that look like a black hole on a spreadsheet, but provide delayed, but massive unaccounted benefits for the rest of the company's operations.

You are and will be, as the cost of hardware in "smart" devices (and the reason that non-smart TV's no longer exist) are subsidized with on-device advertising and massive data collection/reselling.
