Are you using the app or a browser? I found that when I was using the browser it would transcode but when using the app it would be direct play.

You can try jellyfin alongside plex, just install it and point it to your media. Then you can see if it works for you

Does ansible make sense for a single server? I like the concept but I don't know if It makes sense for my purpose.

I think nextcloud is a fork of owncloud ( or the other way around can't remember) so they should be pretty similar but I believe nextcloud is more community focused and has more features.

Ellipse will do fine. While I admire your willingness to connect you account to you real identity, I enjoy the anonymity (or pseudonymity) internet provides. Have a good rest of the day Sebastian!

I don't think you can help the site directly but you cloud use your PC to seed torrents. That seems like the simplest way to help the fmhy community. Seed stuff that you like and focus on the less popular stuff with not many seeders
