Try out F-Droid! It's basically a more free and open version of the play store. Plenty of cool apps on there. Def worth checking out!

I absolutely LOVE the open source/federated aspects of things! I think it's just so cool and interesting to me how it all works! :)

You could create a community with a slightly different name as the abandoned one.
