Thank you, not just for showing respect and appreciation to the people behind Lemm.ee but because these posts are a magnet for the kind of trolls everyone should block before migrating elsewhere. 👌

I started using Discord in 2015 and around 2019 uninstalled it in favor of using it exclusively through a web browser (blocking as much of it's nonsense as possible). Discord takes too many resources hostage if anyone in your server is streaming something, even if you're not watching it. I don't have that issue when using Element (Matrix), Jitsi or any of Steam's broadcasting tools. The only reason I haven't deleted my Discord account yet is because some people I hold dear are incapable of trying something better nowadays (even when they already have it installed as is the case of Steam).

I'll need some time to find where to migrate, if at all. Lemm.ee was very well managed and I would've gladly volunteered to help out. My bad for not paying closer attention sooner.

This is the stuff I'm in Lemmy for. 💛

If they wanted parental controls they'd use the ones already available and ask their ISPs to provide additional and more accessible ones per SIM card, per contract (though manually setting up limitations on each device works better and should suffice). Mandatory age and ID verification for websites is an authoritarian policy through and through, and goes far past anything that would protect children in any way (in fact, it would harm them).

When you choose to forgive someone you're not necessarily forgiving their mistake. It's not condoning, it's giving someone another chance to do better. Forgiving and protecting against risks isn't mutually exclusive, it just takes more effort to do both.

Was about to comment about this. The problem isn't a lack of beefier components but a lack of interest in efficient use of available resources.

Yes. From my understanding, and sadly very close to what seems to happen today, most people chose to either ignore, downplay or justify those horrific events.

Keep up the good work, it's always good to have alternatives. But please at least fix the link in your post, it's giving a bad first impression.

3 times faster to uninstall and never go back to.

As I understood it, there was a change in Mastodon some time ago that stopped people from being able to create posts on Lemmy from Mastodon, but at least comments would federate.

Now I'm getting a few comments from Masto.es, but any comments made from Mastodon.social accounts don't appear.

Does anyone know why this is and if there's a possible fix? I'm trying to bring more people to use Lemmy and Mastodon and a big selling point that shouldn't lead to stutter and doubt is federation through ActivityPub.
