Since you're maintaining a subreddit, you might want to create a comm in lemmy as well. Reddit has already taken down other piracy subs like GenP

They do degrade naturally, so I hope you are redoing this every decade or so

I've tested the discourse plugin before. It's focused on mastodon and doesn't work well with lemmy. You can pull the comm, but new posts won't sync automatically.

Lol. Even if this was true, and every artist selling on stock photos accepted a well-designed ToS allowing training on their images, it just goes to show that relying on copyrights to protect artists is only going to benefit megacorps like adobe who are so massive, they can simply dictate terms.

The only play we have is to demand that all GenAI models have open sourced weights and non-copyrightable output, regardless of how they were trained.

Because we have conflicting methods of achieving our system and because for many Marxists, their "communism" would look very different than ours

Holy shit I can't believe this is not coming out!

I don't really think about reddit anymore.

The megathread is on the wiki. Anyone here can do it.

It's called prefiguration, and when it's wide praxis collapses the system, we don't need to setup a state again

Quit it with the badjacketing.

I have now upgraded the Divisions by zero to Lemmy 0.19.0. I haven't seen any issues, but of course you will have to re-login.

Please check the new features here

I have also updated Pythörhead to be able to handle the new authentication (as well as the old), so if you're running a bot, make sure to update your Pythörhead dependencies.

Now is also a good time that you can support the running of this server. If you just want to support this instance, please use Ko-fi and you can get a custom emoji here. If you want to support my general development efforts as well (Lemmy, Pythorhead, Fediseer, Tagginator etc) feel free to use my liberapay

I am working on my dev instance. Once that plays out OK, I'll need to update pythorhead to handle the new authentication, then I'll be upgrading this instance to 0.19.0.

I don't have an exact time, so if you see this instance down for a bit, you know what's up. You know how it is here...

For those who think copyright approaches to Generative AI are going to be a solution. They won't be

#Facebook and Adobe already have the rights to all the images legally they need, which means that they will make GenAI models and there's nothing you can do about it.

Copyright attacks will only kill the Open Source versions will mean that everyone will be pushed to these priorietary models instead, benefiting only the rich corpos.

While I think this is a bit overblown in sensationalism, any company that allows user generative AI, especially as open as using LoRas and any amount of checkpoints, needs to have very good protection against synthetic CSAM like this. To the best of my knowledge, only the AI Horde has taken this sufficiently seriously until now.
