There's no asics and specialized gpus for this sort of thing. We've also developed foss workers that are indeed more optimized. Also a lot of our volunteers use solar power.

I any case, yes of course it consumes some electricity, but all digital entertainment does and as I said we're comparable to AAA gaming , so I don't see why you're singling that out.

Not really, the ai horde runs in volunteer PCs, so less power and cooling than running an aaa game

With the Ai Horde you just need a browser on a potato.

Oh, you're way past warnings by now...

Since you're maintaining a subreddit, you might want to create a comm in lemmy as well. Reddit has already taken down other piracy subs like GenP

They do degrade naturally, so I hope you are redoing this every decade or so

I've tested the discourse plugin before. It's focused on mastodon and doesn't work well with lemmy. You can pull the comm, but new posts won't sync automatically.

Lol. Even if this was true, and every artist selling on stock photos accepted a well-designed ToS allowing training on their images, it just goes to show that relying on copyrights to protect artists is only going to benefit megacorps like adobe who are so massive, they can simply dictate terms.

The only play we have is to demand that all GenAI models have open sourced weights and non-copyrightable output, regardless of how they were trained.

~500 comments about our instance and admins in the past week. Talk about needing to touch some grass...

I've started the CGF some years ago to learn Godot and to provide something to the community. I even made a few FOSS games with it.

Sadly my work with my other FOSS projects and the fediverse doesn't give me enough time to keep it up to date and to migrate it to Godot 4 and since the engine is picking up a ton of speed, I think it's a shame people have to keep rediscovering the card game wheel.

I know a lot of people avoid it due to the AGPL3 license, so I am thinking of switching to an MIT license instead in the hopes that others will help carry the torch until I find time to circle back to it. There's always pitfalls with MIT of course, such as some company trying to enclose it and sell it as a service, but perhaps peer pressure would be enough of a deterrent at this time.

Anyway. Just opening this up for discussion.

The Generative AI haters and luddites won the day and bullied Nivenly to remove Haidra, even without clear majority in opposition or a quorum.

I will write a post-mortem about this situation soonish.

Allows plugins in any language. Developers need some feedback on which hooks to add.

Planning to cook something up ASAP.

A classic from Cracked. I even blogged about it back in the day
