Bleach is one of those series I missed growing up. I remember reading a little bit of the manga but that's it. Is TYBW something you can go into blind with minimal knowledge of the original series?
Finished Arcane Season 2 last night and boy do I have thoughts. There are some very minor spoilers here.
Still great and I especially loved Jayce and Victor this season, but it had serious pacing issues, especially the third act. A bunch of the character arcs suffer because of this with Vi in particular. I get the arc they were going for with her but the execution makes her feel incredibly reactive and more of a plot device for other characters. Jinx is my favourite character and I think she suffers a little bit as well, especially in the final episode where I would have a liked to see her processing Ekko's words to her a little more rather than just the flash forward into the battle, leaving it to us to retroactively figure out the character development. But overall her story was better handled than Vi. I also feel like the whole Zaun vs. Piltover dynamic and conflict that was so important was kind of unsatisfyingly hand waved away in the final act.
On the other hand the animation quality took an even higher step up and I loved the music montages (I know some people hated them but they really worked for me). The dialogue and character voices were excellent alongside the phenomenal voice acting. The themes about humanity's duality regarding things like love, sacrifice, and family leading to violence, war and death was beautifully portrayed. And I especially loved what Arcane said about forgiveness and identity.
Overall I'm not sure how you fix the pacing issues outside of spreading it across a third season. Still, a top tier show that I will recommend to everyone going forward.
Season 1: 9.5/10
Season 2: 8/10
Nice. I haven't watch Korra since it aired but I remember s3 being my favourite. How are you liking it?
Seems to be Justin Roiland's personal style. You can sort of see it in his previous work including the original Doc and Mharti shorts. Also there's a decent amount of Ren & Stimpy inspiration.
Jinx is heavily shimmered up. That's probably as good of an explanation as anything for why she resisted for so long.
First 3 episodes of Arcane season 2 were really good. There has been a slight jump in animation quality from season 1's already phenomenal animation and they are also trying some new things, both in terms of character arcs and things like editing. I can understand it might be hit or miss, but for me it mostly worked really well. I have minor criticisms of the pacing of episode 3 but that's about it.
For anyone who hasn't watched Season 1 in a while, I would recommend rewatching it because this really feels like Act 4 of the show and I think a rewatch really helped me appreciate these episodes more.
Eh, the MVs don't really bother me. It's like a minute or 2 at (or near) the start of each episode showing a montage of events. I think what they represent is the pacing messiness you mentioned and that's an issue, but tbh that's been one of my minor criticisms of season 1 as well so it's kind of more of the same in regards to season 2.
Other than that, I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes
Hopefully. People that have seen the first 3 episodes at the premiere have been saying it's just as good if not better and with better animation. So fingers crossed.
How do you think the electorate becomes this way? It's not because of some innate failure of humans. It's because of the massive alienation that has systematically occurred over the past 50+ years (and really since WW2) as a result of deliberate policies that have decimated communities, destroyed public education, massively widened the wage gap, ruined the housing market, and is wiping out the environment. Among many other things
Policies that are frequently pushed by Republicans, but sometimes supported and often not repudiated properly by Democrats.
I think this might have been downvoted because the invidious frontend was down briefly and also the title is not great for people without any context.
Here's the youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U17j0zweh90 Pretty good.
Seems like they're basically sun setting Cartoon Network. First the .com website was shut down, and now this. New shows that would historically be on CN are now airing on Adult Swim too.
