Even swapping private planes to passenger ones could save a boatload in carbon emissions. If giving up flying entirely is too much, then at least the regular option would be a lot better.

How much yachting can you possibly be doing as an individual to make that size of a carbon footprint?

Those are some big boats. Mr Abramovich's boat is >160m long. Think of driving around in an apartment complex.

I like his approach of stating that these are big claims, but cannot be really evaluated in any meaningful way, as there is no useful public data to look at.

In my opinion this is the main crux of the whole topic. One party (the US government) has a boatload of various quality sensor data that could be studied, but it's classified. As a result nobody can believe anyone's statements as they aren't supported by anything.

Most likely you won't even notice some of the changes. Reasonably believable cars can already be added to films in post, so no reason why humans couldn't be. This might not be driven only by AI, but instead on more general tech developments in vfx and such.

Am I reading the graphs right if I see the main problem being private yachts and flying? Ofc cars are also included in the transport emissions, but unless they make up the majority of the emissions, the effect of cutting out some of the flights would reduce emissions by a lot.

Seems like a reasonably easy problem to fix, if one was to implement some type of "carbon tax" that targeted at private boats and planes.

Jep.

Thats the point of having energy abundance. When electricity costs are low enough, it wouldn't matter, if the source of synthetic fuel was not the most energy efficient one.

But the naysayers will argue that your problem is not novel and a solution can be trivially deduced from the training data. Right?

I really dislike the simplified word predictor explanation that is given for how LLM's work. It makes it seem like the thing is a lookup table, while ignoring the nuances of what makes it work so well.

Ondra's videos often have a very commercial feel to them. I don't know how to describe them in another way. It's not helped by videos being released 6 months after stuff happens.

Some other climber's (eg Ghisolfi) videos on the other hand have a more vlog like feel, which is more like what I like to watch.

Another fellow here who didn't get into pokemon as a kid. I had a gameboy, but never got a pokemon game for some reason :/

For original entries in GBA/DS realm I'd play the third version (emerald & platinum). With remakes or gens without the third version, I wouldn't stress too much about what to buy.

If you're buying legit carts, then just get the one that you can find for a good price. Alternatively if a game has version exclusive pokemon that you really like, get that one.

This.

Even if some AI or algorithm could tell you that a certain area was less likely to be heavily mined, then what would prevent the opposing force from using similar tools to also identify the weak points?
