I assumed he hadn’t sold his stock because HP paid a dividend (which could’ve been substantial with all his stock from being there so long). But HP doesn’t. 🤷

Sad story of corporate idiocy. All too common.

How is knowing more about the countless undersea horrors a “good” thing…? I mean, I guess it’s preventing me from ever going in the ocean again, so yeah, okay.

And IIRC moved their headquarters to some Caribbean island to avoid paying US corporate taxes.

I’ve always thought that a bad intro song tanks a show (back when you couldn’t skip them). Conversely, a good one makes people stick around and give the show a chance, so it’s more likely to succeed.

Re: the OP question: Magnum PI (OG) SNL intro music 30ROCK Friends (ugh, I know, it was catchy…) Venture Bros. Archer Futurama …and more!

I remember seeing a lot of new tanks sitting unused and unwanted in some flyover state. The governor kept people making tanks because it would’ve killed jobs in his state.

Oreo-flavored Coke Zero was diabolically delicious. I don’t know what’s in it, but the fact that they were able to artificially synthesize the flavor of Oreos without any cookie ingredients makes me scared to eat Oreo cookies ever again.

Exactly, also stop vilifying “advertising” when the cause of advertising is corporations. There would be no advertising without corporations paying for it. It’s like complaining about ashes instead of the fire.

What’s this thing inside my drip irrigation tube? 🤔

Put simply, being in the right place at the right time, and having connections, can be as important as having the skills and experience.

A waiting mortuary was designed to confirm that dead people were truly deceased. To alleviate the fear of being buried alive, recently deceased were housed for a time in waiting mortuaries, where attendants would watch for signs of life. A bell was strung to the corpses to alert attendants of motion. It's erroneously believed that this was the origin of the phrase "saved by the bell", but the phrase really comes from boxing.

My wife turned on the wall switch and the pendant light over our dining room table went out. The fuse outside didn’t blow—none of them needed to be reset. I checked for power in the light’s hanging cord, but nothing. I pulled the wall switch to check for power and nothing there either. Thoughts?

From TECO: "With the help of 6,000 utility workers, we expect to restore power for essentially all customers in the coming days. Many will have power sooner; more extensive damage may take longer."

"Hillsborough and Pinellas customers - Thurs. 10/17 by 11:59 p.m."

This study is from 2017, but I suspect the numbers are even worse now.

Those channels give the burrito moisture somewhere to go so the tortilla stays dry. 👍

I love Digikam, but fixing photos is a lot of work. So I use Luminar NEO to get looks that would take hours I don’t want to spend. Is there an open source alternative to Neo? Something that supports LUTs, presets, etc? Thx.

It takes a few minutes for my tankless water heater to warm up, so we end up wasting a lot of water in our shower. Is there a way to avoid this? A friend mentioned a “comfort valve” or something? What is it and how does it work? Or is there another solution? Thx!
