China does not want to invade Taiwan at all. It's legacy "face" that they have to keep up which was inherited from people of the past. Even in the 60's they were putting up an act. My dad tells me they would shell the same (inhabited) locations at Kinmen at the same time.

One China policy is a neutral statement. It allows the CPC to save face and Taiwan just wants to be left alone, which is what the one china policy does.

The 5 causes of death that collectively accounted for almost three-quarters of the early adult excess mortality in 2023 were drug poisoning (31.8% of excess mortality), the residual natural-cause category (16.0%), transport-related deaths (14.1%), alcohol-related deaths (8.5%), and homicide (8.2%). Additionally, the combined contribution of cardiometabolic conditions, including circulatory and endocrine, metabolic, and nutritional, was substantial (9.2%).

all probably exacerbated by shitty economy

no profit, dude
think of the capital expenditure required and potential profit gained as a percentage (it's most likely negative unless tariffs go up by few hundreds or even thousands of percentages and all loopholes are closed), and that's given the tarrifs stay, which is also unlikely.

There's no property bubble in China. They deflated it on purpose. For 2008 stimulus they spent it on creating infrastructure which has paid off.

There's no profit in manufacturing a lot of things. Even overseas their margins are often sub 5%.

For example server assembly is a sub 10% margin business even with labor that's a fraction of the cost of labor in the US and that also includes a complete supply chain to allow for assembly in the first place. Parts suppliers get squeezed for margins hard as well.
