They remembered to install the GPS, spy devices and "big boom" signal receiver, right? They only get one chance..

So if it weren't a web site... would she be able to sue 7-11 if the kid found a playboy someone else in her house bought?

Could she sue them if the employee was doing their duty, but a kid broke 7-11's rule, snuck around and stole one?

The site was illegally breached (accessed in violation of their terms) and the kid accessed content not appropriate for them.

How is the site liable? Doesn't dmca precedent here say the kid is at fault for bypassing access controls?

If they want to reach their customers, they likely won't find them on mastodon.. hard to ignore millions of engaged users 🤷‍♂️

This all day. USB3 has plenty of bandwidth to keep those spinners busy, and a cheap pc can be bought for under $200 that would handle all the services op described, plus more.

I bought an n150 with 12gb RAM, dual 2.5gb nic, built in nvme and USB 3.2. it uses like 15w of power, is basically silent, and with a 5 bay HDD attached I've got enough storage for whatever.

Building a home lab server from components is only a good idea if you have some really specific use case not covered by cheap imports...

Those dogs are permanently bonded to you. They'll always remember the way they feel on that car ride out of jail. To you they may be a small part of your life, but to them you're everything Adopt adopt adopt

The electoral college helps protect people who live in America, but not in the most populous areas. Under mob rule, politicians can support policies specifically targeted to helping affluent/dense populations in cities, and also support policies which further marginalize the remaining 90% of the country. Can you name another mechanism which would achieve that goal of protecting a broader interest better?

Wash it, poke some holes in it, a little oil on the skin, salt, bake

Once cooked, cut it down the middle part way, smash together the ends a bit

bacon, cheddar, sour cream

I'm actually planning to do just about that, based on the discussion in this thread.

I found that I can get an unmanaged switch with 4 2.5gbe ports for under $60, I can use my existing cabling at that speed. I'll upgrade my aging router to an x86 (n100 or similar) and load my favorite router distro on it. Use that as the router, connect Wi-Fi APs (might even use the eero they give me that way).

I'll upgrade my systems on the Ethernet using USB dongles (several options at around $20 each)

I'm feeling that improving much beyond 2.5 internally is a bit of a waste at this point.

Thanks to all posters in this thread!

At this stage I don't know - but they seem to describe a setup where they are essentially providing a WiFi 7 router as an access point, which connects to another piece of hardware acting as the gateway

Ezee fiber is the ISP. Eero max 7 WiFi. XGS PON agree, it is symmetrical

It was recently announced that FTTH will soon (finally) be available in my market. The provider coming to town offers rates up to 8g.

I'm upgrading from DSL at <100mbps - really exciting! However I will then face a bit of an issue.

I self host many services over my DSL, and use custom firmware on my router. My DSL modem is in a transparent bridging mode. I like the flexibility and customizability this setup provides.

The new service includes a WiFi 7 router, but that means I'll also potentially be subject to all the weird things providers like to do, like adding backdoors, opening shared WiFi networks, force deploying different firmware, etc. Plus I won't be running any kind of service on the router itself, which I do have today (transparent proxy etc). The router I have today is not going to enable me to touch the peak bandwidth available.

What're the best options to upgrade LAN components so that I can support multi gig internal networking speeds, ensure my self hosted services all function normally, and I take advantage of the bandwidth the ISP upgrade offers? In your personal opinion, is it worth it to invest in upgraded lan components?

Anyone have experience converting from 1G LAN to 2.5 or even 10?

Do I really need 8G FTTH, of course not, but if I ever wanted to get the max out of it, what does that take?

So I got a notice from Ticketmaster that my identity was accessed by an intruder and my name, contact info and /encrypted/ payment info was compromised. These notices are more and more common. Why aren't companies accountable for damages when they fail to protect all the myriad data they collect on people without consent? I never asked them to store these things..

Go Kings Go!

I am beginning the process of divorce. There was no history of anything bad, just general lack of compatibility. We've been together 13 years, and at least the past 3-4 we've been shells of who we were.

Though we both care deeply, we both know we want to be loved differently.

Right now I'm still going between the depression/despair and some irrational nostalgic notion that maybe things could be the way I thought they were (in my mind I know that these are rose tinted memories)

How do former couples get along usually? I'm a child of divorce, where my Mom moved two states away and I went with her. My parents were cordial, I think.

My ex thinks that we should remain friends, but I think that will make the grieving process harder for me. I wonder if this desire to remain friends is a way for her to not fully have to let go. But if you want the milk, you buy the cow.

Should I be wary, or should I be grateful here? How do I protect myself from catching feelings some days and dragging my healing for to long
