I hear what you're saying, but horizontal scaling also gives you improved reliability too, which is good for individual instances.

I for one would happily horizontally scale an instance I was running (which I am not for now) on my K8s lab. Why? Because I can and because I like it!

The process of "embrace, extend and extinguish" has been used multiple times to destroy FLOSS projects from the inside.

Our dishwasher recently died 2 months out of warranty. Repair cost was basically even with buying a new device of similar quality (on paper).

Decided to repair because we have had a couple supposedly good dishwashers that were complet junk. At least this one I know actually washes dishes (not given for a modern dishwasher).

Their TVs are great, had 1 for more than 10 years and a second going on 6 and we're really happy both.

If the most common phrase here is "brush up your CV" we have a problem.

If it can run on PHP8 you get JIT compilation, which should go a long way to closing any gaps (if they exist, which I suspect not).
