This is a baby downy woodpecker. It has erected some feathers on the top of its head, probably because it saw something that bothered it and it wanted to look fierce. It is also making itself at home on the block suet feeder. It's easy food for a baby, in that it doesn't require much hammering in this head and it provides a lot of protein.
This is a baby cardinal. Unlike its parents, it is sort of brown colored, with a bit of red and gold showing thru. Instead of a red beak, it has a black one. Its crest is thin and stringy. All in all, an ugly baby.
