That's an impressive list for one month!

A small suggestion for the settings page: The "Delete account" button should probably be a bit trickier to press by accident. Right now its colour changes by theme, and as it is at the bottom of the page it's easy to assume it's the "save changes" button if you don't read. I would assume it asks for a confirmation before deleting the profile, but nevertheless it seems a bit dangerous.

One suggestion would be to make sure it's always red with white text independent of theme. Another would be to change its position, for example by lifting it up into the settings or moving it to the right side of the content so that it doesn't align with everything else. :)

I go Italian with a lot of kitchen appliances. My Italian stainless steel frying pan is amazing. Pasta machine obviously. They also make some great shoes and leather products.

I would never trust them with anything of equal or greater complexity to a bicycle.

My vacuum cleaner is made in Germany. Super happy with it after one year. I also have a pretty sturdy German kitchen knife.

Pretty sure some of my power tools are also German, but that's bought more on the basis of what I could find in flea markets than where it was produced.

Funny that the EU is scores higher than 26 of its member states.

The American companies obsessed with cutting costs generally don't manufacture in the US any more. Potential exception for the automobile industry, but these cars aren't really exported much to the rest of the world any more.

Also worth noting that this is based on data from 2017. I would be happy to buy a pair of jeans made in America back then. Now, not so much.

This is like how we used to have independent businesses all around the country, and now we're left with a handful of shitty chains along the superhighway.

It's an infrastructure problem. We need to support the odd roads that lead us to the smaller independent corners of the web.

I guess that's exactly what we're doing on the Fediverse. I just hope it's not too long before a search engine that prioritizes independent sources actually starts performing well.

Moreover, given that Hunt and LaBella are members of the performers union SAG-AFTRA, their intimate scenes would also be subject to the labor group’s regulations, which call for prior notice, consent and a closed set.

...so for non-unionized talents the industry assumes it doesn't need prior notice or consent?

Turns out Sumer Is Icumen In is an absolute banger.

If he was open to change his mind, that's cool. It's hard to find good sources for anything going on in this controversy, especially considering the fact that it seems to come up any time anyone is talking about Ladybird. But by how little is out there it at least seems wrong to write the guy off as downright hateful.

I hope it got to a point where trans people are comfortable contributing to the project.

Apparently the developer is/was one of those guys who gets into fights over pronouns, maintaining that assuming everyone on the planet is male is somehow apolitical while inclusive language is not.

I honestly doubt it is/was hate as much as ignorance, but I'm not particularly well informed and I don't know the guy at all.

Yeah, I honestly have no idea. Probably a mix of both.

If people are silenced from sharing their stories because they also ask for aid this seems potentially bad. It's also unfortunate that it's hard to say what has really gone down since the record is deleted, though it's probably available somewhere online.

In either case I think it illustrates quite clearly the advantages of true decentralization for censorship resistance. What is allowed or not on Bluesky is decided by a tiny board of Americans, with no meaningful way of bypassing their moderation decisions.

I love this! Totally agree with @[email protected], the feeling of alienation here is fantastic and works on so many levels.
