That is the name for what I'm describing, no? Transubstantiation is the summoning of Christ's blood and flesh by means of bread, wine and ritual. It's a fancy word for a specific type of summoning.

I just can't enjoy this. I recognise it's a technological feat, but giving an ounce of positive praise to these first steps to privatized solar-system destroying shit just hurts. Society would be better off if it had exploded.

100%. Reusable rockets in this fashion were even envisioned and designed by NASA many decades ago, they just never had the funding to do it.

Unless someone comes up with an effective signal-to-noise filter to get rid of all this shit in all aspects of the web, the internet will become entirely useless, save for forums and smaller/indie websites, basically any website that relies at least mostly on meaningful communication and human moderation (like here).

Honestly, that's almost a win/win now I think about it.

The official teaching is that it is not symbolic. They claim to be quite actually eating the flesh of Christ. Communion is a summoning ritual.

I do not believe for an instant that "a couple of years ago" searching "phone screen cleaner" returned anything but ads for special products either. Maybe more like 15 years ago.

True, but only if:

a) Your phone/screen protector ever had an oleophobic coating

b) Your phone is <1 year old, by which time the coating will wear off anyway.

I don't think it really matters in most cases.

Ah, but which one? Country (of Palestine) over party?

Ending a strike by any means other than the workers' consent is quite definitionally forced labour.

As someone in tech, I frequently dream of a fantasized life being a berry picker in a hunter-gatherer society.

The very deliberate conflation of zionism and antisemitism by Zionist orgs in an attempt to defend their genocide has so much to answer for.

To be honest, you could replicate this same graph for everything and anything in life. To me personally, it really isn't news, neither is the size of the effect. Social mobility in western society is insanely low (and honestly not amazing anywhere). :same-graph:

However, this fact really does need to be hammered into peoples' heads: Even if you only care about meritocracy, capitalism is an awful system as we're clearly denying ~90% of potential achievers from achieving by allowing this kind of inequality. The wealth you're born into is the biggest indicator of success in life, to such an insane degree that it's borderline the ONLY indicator of your chance of success in life.

Even revolutionary leaders are most typically bourgeoisie-born class traitors. Turns out having food, education, stable family, reliable shelter and healthcare, and opportunities in life really, really helps.
