But the 'shut down, in an emotional sense' is the figurative use of the word 'died', not the literal kind.
Even if you invent an imaginary authority foisting those words down. Once people use them, acknowledging their use as 'legitimate' is the definition of descriptivist.
The only way to oppose such words is to be prescriptive, the correct position.
Has it ever really been different?
I'm either not interpreting your words well, or I don't think you agree with them.
it's made clear that they can't or won't criticize the thing they are asked to
okay? But there's a big difference between being made clear either that they "can't" or "can't or won't". The latter is obviously the case, the 'journalist' is pretending it like the former is the truth. "They won't humour my stupid request" != "They can't say what they want".
I'm perfectly okay with killing people en masse and traumatizing the rest. Why is everyone else so radical :/
You claim to have free speech huh? The only way to prove that is to say exactly what I tell you!
Literal playground tactics
Howdy! We've had nothing but toxic unpleasant interactions in the past, but I'm still very glad you feel it sounds like you've been able to evade slop-waddling and I hope things continue positively!
I feel like both have been used since forever. For example here's a Newgrounds thread from 2005 where everyone uses the term 'profile picture'. Here's the term 'avatar' being used in Neopets in 2003.
To trump both, here's a forum post in 2001 using both terms
Why do people buy instant oats at 10-25x the price of a bag of oats?
Oats are already instant, you can just pour normal oats and milk into a bowl and microwave it! Buy them rolled and let them sit in the microwave a little more if you want them goopier. I actually like my oats extra solid so I microwave jumbo oats for like 30s and consume.
This is the attack of "microwave popcorn" all over again.
