I immediately popped a bottle of champagne after viewing the video. I had some scotch but foaming spraying out the neck of the bottle seemed more fitting given the circumstances.

My favorite part was the hair flop the moment the bullet hit, but before it tumbled through an artery and shit spewed out. Classic.

What a paradox for trump. Either admit he signed off on this mission that targeted a leader he’s “friendly” with and that ended in abject failure, or admit that people in his administration are approving things without his knowledge, probably with an autopen.

Ah ok I see what you were saying. Honestly I think we’ll see physical media first, like multilayer Blu-ray Discs or something, that drive the initial adoption, just like with 4K. One people get a taste of it, demand will force streamers to offer it at a premium tier, until it eventually just becomes normalized.

But yeah I think it’s gonna be way slower than the buildup to 4K also.

Wait what? Are you implying that if there was demand for 8k content, then pirates would make it available? The content has to exist in order for pirates to release it.

I can download a remux of the 4K Lawrence of Arabia transfer because it was filmed in 70mm and the studio transferred it at 4K. It’s 70mm film, so it’s ~8-12K equivalent, but to actually get that resolution they would have to scan that film at that resolution, then go through the whole video workflow, color correction, whatever tf idk I’m not a video engineer, at that resolution, and render out the final version at that resolution.

Pirates aren’t doing that, they’re ripping physical or digital releases. And there’s no point in downloading an 8K upscale of a 4K release, just let your TV or your Shield or Infuse handle the upscaling.

For offensive cyber security a good way to just jump in is the free hack the box machines. I took detailed notes on them then published those notes on my website, which I was told later was what sold my first pentesting employer on me versus other candidates.

Other than that, yeah free sec+ stuff is a good entry point.

Oh also black hills information security has post what you can online trainings. The company is ran by a former sans instructor, the quality is really good.

Ah, misunderstood what you meant my bad.

General users can have production servers also. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make by quoting an FAQ at me tbh.

Judging by the downvotes, Onno wasn’t clear at all and other people thought they meant it the way I took it. I think the part that makes it obvious Onno was telling the user to use Ubuntu provided user support is that they literally said “Use the support”.

You can pin versions in your dock-compose.yaml file if you’re running it as a container. If you’ve installed bare metal then idk.

It’s not how long you get support, it’s how long that version of the OS is going to be supported by the maintainers for stuff like security updates. The reason you would choose an LTS release is because you don’t want an apt update to switch to a kernel version (or any other package version) that borks a production server.

Manually typing the base64 encoded 32GB file? Open up a terminal and type echo “example text” | base64, then imagine inputing the result of piping 32GB to it instead of 13 characters.

I'm not sure if anyone wants this or cares, but a friend told me I should share this so here it is.

During Season 5 I got tired of loosely tracking my WT WPs in a Notepad file and manually doing the math to check how many WP's I needed each day to stay on track for Emerald 1, so just before Season 6 hit I created this spreadsheet for myself. The Overview worksheet shows an overview of each season, with information like current rank (pulled dynamically based on the WPs you have from tournament games entered into the seasons WT tracker table on the WT worksheet, total WPs, WP remaining for Emerald 1, target WP/day based on remaining, average WP per tournament, total cash cashed out, win percentage, KDR, and total tournaments played.

Same thing for Quick Play basically.

Also the same thing for Ranked, but with RS totals, RS remaining, average RS per tournament, etc.

Here's some screenshots showing the Overview worksheet, as well as the rest of the Table/DB worksheets (https://imgur.com/a/4XebA0r).

Here's a link to the .xlsx on my Google Drive if anyone wants to use it (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mC4Xjvx26H8T5I0Lv98TnqO3PV2vL51m/edit).

Google opens it in Sheets instead of just downloading it, so please ignore all the #ERROR! things in the cells. Apparently named tables, or VLOOKUPs, or some IF statements or something from Excel aren't compatible with Sheets, and I honestly don't care enough to port the formulas over. Having my browser open with Sheets up is more resource heavy while I'm gaming than saving this .xlsx as a .xlsb and just having it open in Excel on another monitor. It all works in Excel, just download from Sheets as .xlsx.

It's been really interesting to see that my feeling that WT was sweatier than Ranked this season supported by my Win Percentage and K/D for each. Also feel free to roast my stats idgaf.

It's already templated out for Season 7, I just cleaned it up before hopping into some games. You can just delete the columns for S6 stuff and start adding games in under the relevant S7 tables. I thought about removing my S6 data but figured I'd leave it in there for context.

Also sorry for imgur link vs catbox, but I didn't want to scare the reddit people.

The Day 8 announcement is that TDM is going to be a permanent QP mode. I’m just happy it’s not S6’s ranked mode haha.

I’m the blog post section for day 8 they left another little teaser about progression in the Quick Play track, inb4 people are grinding for Emerald WT, Ranked Ruby, and Quartz Quick Play.

I’m having an issue when scrolling through any post feed while on my db0 account. Whether it’s Home, Local, or All, the first 50 or so posts load fine, but when I get to the end I just get a bunch of errors saying there was a timeout while fetching new posts.

I have switched to an alternate account on sh.itjust.works, and don’t seem to be noticing the issue.

I am on the latest test flight version of Arctic, and I know db0 is on Lemmy 0.19.6. Both the db0 update to this version and the latest test flight version occurred around the same time. I’m not sure what Lemmy version sh.itjust.works is on.

Does anyone know if this is an Arctic issue with 0.19.6 APIs, or if it’s an issue with my instance specifically?

Edit- sh.itjust.works is still on 0.19.5, so maybe that has something to do with it? Idk.

HOUSTON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - U.S. oilfield services firm Halliburton (HAL.N), opens new tab on Wednesday was hit by a cyberattack, according to a person familiar with the matter. Halliburton said it was aware of an issue affecting certain systems at the company and was working to determine the cause and impact of the problem. The company was also working with "leading external experts" to fix the issue, a spokesperson said in an emailed statement. The attack appeared to impact business operations at the company's north Houston campus, as well as some global connectivity networks, the person said, who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to speak on the record. The company has asked some staff not to connect to internal networks, the person said. Houston, Texas-based Halliburton is one of the largest oilfield services firms in the world, providing drilling services and equipment to major energy producers around the globe. It had nearly 48,000 employees and operated in more than 70 countries at the end of last year.

Cyberattacks have been a major headache for the energy industry. In 2021, hackers attacked the Colonial Pipeline with ransomware, causing a days-long shutdown to the major fuel supply line. That breach, which the FBI attributed to a gang called DarkSide, led to a spike in gasoline prices, panic buying and localized fuel shortages. Several major U.S. companies have suffered ransomware attacks in recent years, including UnitedHealth Group (UNH.N), opens new tab, gambling giants MGM Resorts International (MGM.N), opens new tab, Caesars Entertainment CZR.O and consumer good maker Clorox (CLX.N), opens new tab.

While its unclear what exactly is happening at Halliburton, ransom software works by encrypting victims' data. Typically, hackers will offer the victim a key in return for cryptocurrency payments that can run into the hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. If the victim resists, hackers sometimes threaten to leak confidential data in a bid to pile on the pressure. The ransomware group DarkSide, suspected by U.S. authorities of the Colonial Pipeline attack, for example, said it wanted to make money. Colonial Pipeline's CEO said his company paid a $4.4 million ransom as executives were unsure how badly its systems were breached or how long it would take to restore the pipeline.
